Man lol the 5th editions are like 2-3 times more expensive than the 4th editions so I'm stuck as to which to get. Might just suck it up and buy the 5ths

Experimental: LG set I put together through 7sage
Scaled Score: 173
My highest score ever! Very happy, even with the usual older test caveat and very generous curve. Back to back 170s. Yaaaaay. RC is especially encouraging considering how I struck out on the section multiple times last week. Hope everyone's seeing progress they're happy with. You can do it!

Couldn't stick to the timer on my LG drill. I hate studying after work, but it's so hard to find the time for drills or timed PTs.
Used the LG from PT 30: -3.
Just out of curiosity, has anyone heard of any credible predictions for the curve? Apparently this past June's test was an unusual -9, so some people are predicting a return to -10 or -11.

I don't think you can predict a curve before the test since I believe the curve is based off difficulty. However, on average since June 2005, the averages for the curve for each disclosed administration have been: June (-10.38), Sept/Oct (-11.08), and Dec (-12) for a combined average of about 11.15. Not that these numbers are in any way predictive, just thought it was interesting.tapenade wrote:Couldn't stick to the timer on my LG drill. Re: The Official September 2017 Study Group
Hey September crew, I have a situation I need advice on.
An acquaintance of mine texted me last week asking for my help with the LSAT (I kinda went overboard celebrating my score and now all these random people know lol). I agreed to tutor her and our first session was today. She was really nice and cool but she was really having trouble with it. She's taking a kaplan course and her diagnostic was 134, and her midpoint PT (what Kaplan uses to measure progress I guess) was even lower (like 132 or so). She has a 2.8 GPA and is shooting for the mid/high 150s and wants me to help her get there, but IDK what to do because her end goal is about where I started out (diag 160). It's obvious the kaplan course isn't helping her (even though she says it is) but I don't know if I can either because the methods and techniques I used to get from 160 to the mid 170s might not be useful to her.
I already convinced her to sit out the september test, informing her that a 20 point jump in a month and a half probably isn't achievable, but beyond that, what should I do? Would it be worth it to continue to tutor her given that we're on such different levels and I'm terrible at teaching things? I know some of you will be like "tell her not to go to law school" but I'm not a confrontational person and we have mutual friends that would make the situation awkward.
Any advice is appreciated guys.

You're right about the September test. She should probably start with LG. Literally anyone can make huge improvements on LG with enough time/grinding. That's bound to get her at least 15 points.dm1683 wrote:Hey September crew, I have a situation I need advice on.

Re: The Official September 2017 Study Group
Agree with PresidentSpivey - LG is the easiest way to go. At that score, there's a higher chance that they're going to get a question wrong than they are right, so I'd think that even before strategies like stem first and the whatnot, there needs to be a thinking process realignment. Maybe it would be beneficial for them to do a section aloud - that is, untimed, and with you sitting next to them as they pretty much stream of conciousness say exactly what they're thinking and how they're approaching a question. As you take notes/record that, could be a great way to realize "oh, wait, you fundamentally understand what a flaw question is asking", or something like that.dm1683 wrote:Hey September crew, I have a situation I need advice on.

How long did it take you guys to read each of the Manhattan guides? I'm hoping now until the test date is enough time to read all 3? With time for practice tests as well?
