My only thought about this one is maybe they didn't create a clear narrative in their app about why they wanted to go to LS after a masters in Physics and STEM UG? Or didn't write "Why X?" essays?Alexandros wrote:

Stego, a user on here, had an atrocious app with like 171/3.9x. His choosing thread helps one understand why

I love duke, but with those options I honestly would have picked Harvard. He's taking Duke

Yup. I'd imagine that if his PS indicated that LS was a fallback, that a lot of schools would flag that pretty quick.Alexandros wrote:Yeah, goes to show a weak PS can really shoot an app down.oopsu812 wrote:My only thought about this one is maybe they didn't create a clear narrative in their app about why they wanted to go to LS after a masters in Physics and STEM UG? I'm surprised they didn't even get a Butler. Maybe too low of an LSAT?Alexandros wrote:Unpopular opinion but I don't think the second one under performed that much. UVA would probably have been the most likely to give $$$ - it's too bad they got YP'd there.

I just found it weird. The full ride thing often is though. Most people with those numbers tend to get at least one t13 full ride, but it often varies which school actually offers it. Somewhat unpredictable, and I guess some just don't get that random lucky touchdown.Alexandros wrote:Unpopular opinion but I don't think the second one under performed that much. I'm curious: do schools look skeptically upon applicants who openly profess commitment to PI in a PS (in terms of both acceptance and scholly money)?

Re: The Official September 2017 Study Group
Hey y'all, been lurking here for years and fallen in and out and back in love with the idea of law school. Finally pulled the trigger and registered for September 2017. I'm working fulltime (graduated in December), so I've got a pretty simple study schedule--every day after work for an hour or two, then longer sessions on the weekend. Wish me luck!

Applying broadly is the key. But yeah, he's a nice guy on here, so when he says weak softs I think he might mean it to a greater extent than when I say I have weak softs. He may have literally never even worked a summer job. Still great results, though, compared to most LS applicantsAlexandros wrote:Very true. Shows why it's important to apply broadly and show interest (which this person of course did).chargers21 wrote:I just found it weird. The full ride thing often is though. I suspect people who don't bring much to the table aside from numbers don't do as well.

Anywhere to get .pdfs of drills online? I have all three PS type trainings and want to make copies but would love to avoid doing that at work lol
The questions I'm finding online aren't in the test format (i.e. one/two per page, etc)

Re: The Official September 2017 Study Group
I would wager genuine PI oriented PS's are easier to write and are looked upon at least somewhat favorably. I wanted BL, so I really didn't address future career prospects at all in my PS. I actually remember in a skype interview with a school, my interviewer was questioning my motivation for transactional work and whether my background logically led to that type of work, and suggested that I seriously look into litigation because I seemed to have some of the prototypical traits for that field. weirdAlexandros wrote:Doubt it, or at least I hope not.Anon-e-miss wrote:Wow this thread was revelatory.chargers21 wrote:Stego, a user on here, had an atrocious app with like 171/3.9x. If anything I'd imagine it's somewhat easier to write a convincing, non-douchy "I want PI because xyz" PS than "I want BL because xyz" PS.

I'll never understand the mindset of some companies that "require" you to be in for x amount of hours per day. I've had all my work done for the week since 9am and I have to sit here and wait and do nothing. I don't even have work that I could proactively do for next week.. literally waiting on followup from a bunch of people. COOL
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
