Jesus.
And to think, with my 156 diagnostic, I could have scored a 185!

Cold Diagnostic - 160 or 161 can't remember, but I think I gave myself extra time per section. So let's say 158/159

PT Average - 172 (3 out of last 7 PTs were 178's!)

Oct 2010 - 171

Studied 2-4 hrs per day over 5 months. Probably overkill, but it's much better than not studying enough. Only regret is not having a better RC strategy.

1) What was your score on your initial diagnostic? 159

2) What were you getting on preptests? 174 average overall, 176 on the last ten tests average. Hit 180 twice.

3) What did you score on the October (or any previous LSAT)? 174.

What did you guys do specifically to improve?

I just pushed myself harder and reviewed missed questions. I would write out an explanation for why a given answer is right or wrong, but I've never really been able to break that barrier between getting maybe -3 to -5 wrong on a section, and consitently getting only -1 to -3; or however you would describe that next hurdle.

I started in April and studied pretty consistently over the summer.

Also, what do TLSrs think of the princeton prep materials? I have the bibles already.

Commercial PR books will decrease your score. The course books are pretty solid, but nothing that will dramatically change your life.

i took a live online princeton review course. I really liked it, mainly because they break down a lot of LR question by question type. Theres 4 books of prep that comes with the class, so you always have stuff to work on. I took the class because I had no strategies or clue as to how to defeat this test. When the class was over I had a solid foundation of strategies to use.

The downside of the course is that it goes a bit slow. The strategies are very similar to the powerscore methods, but the verbage is different ( I got called out for using powerscore verbage- i was using the powerscore bibles in addition to the class methods). Just make sure to leave youself a month to prep on your own, or else you will only get 5 full length prep tests in.

the pr stuff you find in the library is garbage. Same for barons. I think that because the non course material from pr is so bad, it hurs their overall reputation, especially on here.

also- most prep companies try to get you to score into the low 150s. If you want to score higher than that, you will have to continue prep on your own.

1) 163 cold diag

2) total PT avg = 171 or so over 2.5 months of taking PTs
last 10 PTs avg = 174-5

3) 175 on test day

Spent 2.5 months studying, didn't take a class, read LGB and LRB, then just did lots and lots of preptests (about 35 total), being very disciplined about strict time limits and simulated test conditions. Since LGs were my biggest problem, I also did a lot of extra LG sections and redid the LGs in the LGB multiple times. Initially, I could never finish the 4th LG (usually had to guess on 3-4 questions), and I kept reading everyone's comments on TLS that LGs are the easiest to improve on and that if you practice you should eventually get -0. I really struggled for awhile, and it took me until about 2 weeks before test day to get my first -0 on LG. On test day I ended up with -1 on LG (ran out of time on the last question and blind-guessed).

I believe I am the most consistent/worst studied LSAT taker ever.

Diagnostic: 168
PT: 168 on every single one of them. Never deviated from this score ever out of 15 practice tests and reading through the entire McGraw Hill LSAT book.
Actual Test: 169
