Mohs scale, they used to be 6, like orthoclase feldspar, now they're generally 8.5, between corundrum and topaz.

Yeah this is an interesting question. In my test-masters class, the instructor said that LG is getting easier and RC is getting harder.

I consistently got -6 on RC when I was practicing...but I took the LSAT in June and then in September and only got -1 both times on RC. (I've never had a problem in RC though. Got close to an 800 on the SAT verbal).

Maybe I just wasn't as focused during those 20+ practice tests because I knew RC wouldn't be a problem. But I have heard that the last RC sections were really difficult (Willa Cather)...although I ended up breezing through them.

What is the general consensus?

um.. I think what everybody is trying to say is, why don't you just try out a 50+ PT yourself? It's not like degrees of difficulty can be explained in great detail, with reliability, and it's going to be different for everybody anyhow. And hearing about it second-hand won't be of much help to you either.

In general all I can say is I have found the questions themselves, not the passages, to be a bit trickier. Other than that, yeah... just do them yourself and see what you think.

RC was the death of me. I practiced on older tests and bombed the current LC. Fortuately, I rocked the other sections, so I will not retake. But shit, I thought the RC was way harder than the ones I practiced. Disclaimer, it was my last section, so that might have had an impact.

Good Luck!

Edit after reading above: Willa Cather hurt me like no woman ever has.....

I never knew that there was a difference until I came here. Some people have a significantly harder time with recent RC; some don't. For whatever reason, I'm in the latter category (thankfully).
