Laptop Recommendations?

I'm applying this cycle and planning to attend in the Fall of 2018. My computer is old and barely functional, so I'm planning on buying a new one relatively soon. Does anyone have recommendations for a cost-effective laptop for school? I believe my most recent computer cost about $700, so that seems to be a pretty reasonable price to me.

Really depends on what kind of computer system you prefer and how often you're going to use your computer for non-schoolwork purposes. I'm planning on getting the newest Macbook Pro as soon as my current one dies but that's my choice.

0L here but I'm obsessed with Macbook Pros! They're not the cheapest but I have never ever had one crash, freeze, or otherwise break down on me (of course I'm careful with it and don't drop it or spill things on it). For school I used heavy graphic design software on it and I never had an issue, and for work (I got them to buy me one :D ) I've had heavy software running while I'm on a Skype conference call or something and I've never had an issue. My personal computer is 4+ years old and is running perfectly still (and on the newest OS), and the work computer is a refurbished 2015 model that felt -- and continues to feel -- brand new. I've never had to get them serviced or fixed for anything either. A lot of PCs seem cool but I've heard horror stories of random glitches/crashing (without dropping the computer or anything) after the 2-year mark.

Honestly, the cheapest laptop will do. I'm using a $200 Lenovo Ideapad and it's working just fine. I recommend saving as much money as possible for casebooks, supplements, health insurance, parking passes, food, etc., as all those little things really add up. Good luck!

I'd just get any moderately priced PC like ASUS or HP. IMO you would want like a 13 in. so it's easy to stash and carry

The size of the Macbook Air is nice but the storage capacity sucks. I keep a lot of porn on my Macbook Air and I constantly am having to buy new external flash drives to transfer over porn from my Macbook Air because I keep running out of storage space. Just this pas weekend I bought my 8th 32 GB flash drive of 2017.

Laughed out loud at this. Thanks

Don't cheap out. Get something that won't shit the bed mid-exam, and preferably something that will last you until you need to take the bar exam.
