Not at all. People have overcome much, much worse. You're fine.

Totally fine. Just don't make a habit of it.

I had an underage drinking citation at your age. Didn't impact a thing anywhere down the line for my apps or bar admission or hiring. Just disclose and don't do it again.

It won't happen again, this process has become my life over the past few years and I feel like it's all flashing before my eyes. My concern is that the harsh truth in life is no matter how great you are theres someone else better. These types of schools are looking for reasons to keep me out, not to accept me. Won't this serve as a tie breaker between me and a candidate who isn't as much of a degenerate?

No. There isn't going to be a candidate who is identical to you in EVERY POSSIBLE WAY except the citation. And even if there were, it's not sufficient to affect an admissions decision.
Also I think maybe you might want to get some perspective on the admissions process. It's not your whole life.

Yoo you have your whole life to worry about being a lawyer. Go enjoy the few years you have where you can be a "degenerate" and not be judged too harshly for it.

I know this isn't what you're asking about, but you're a strong example of someone who should work for 2 or 3 years between undergrad and law school. The added maturity and perspective will make you a better law student and a better lawyer.legallyblonde97 wrote:It won't happen again, this process has become my life over the past few years and I feel like it's all flashing before my eyes. I concede I am being a tad dramatic. This is all very fresh. There is clearly more to life than the law school admission process. I have internships, I have hobbies, I have friends. I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to assure that a passionate dream one has isn't impossible. I just made a mistake and want to know that it's not going to prevent me from accomplishing something that I've been excited about for years now.

It's like 45% of law school students. I've seen things so much worse than that it makes your not even look like an event, and these people still have shots at any school. Own up to it and just move right on. Just don't make a pattern out of it. Or use words like "ruined" ever again The overreaction would likely cost you more if expressed in an interview than the one time event.

As everyone has said, its really not a big deal. Honestly though, you may want to think of taking a gap year or two before applying - not because of the underage, but rather the stresses of law school could eat the portrayal of the person that you put forth in here alive. A year or two in the workforce could help you realize that there is so much more to life.
