I don't know what it's called but it's fairly easy once you get the hang of it. You have to loop it on both sides.

For a wider tie, that looks like a skinny tie I think the way he did it is fine.

It's called the Windsor knot. Just FYI. Google it and you can find some how-to vids/step-by-step tutorials. Then you can look like the hottest serial killer EVER too.

I actually think its just a really tight windsor. The half windsor is always kinda crooked/uneven up top, but in the picture it looks too even up top to be a half (due to the double loops). Then again, the angle we are looking at it from kinda brings in a little doubt..

I can't figure out how to get my ties to not look that, but I'm almost positive I'm not tying a windsor.

edit: I'm apparently tying a "shell knot," because I do that goofy thing where the back/small end of the tie is facing backwards. The knots turn out pretty fine, with a tie with proper material you can get the dimple easily, but the backwards thing is dumb.

I've always longed to be an ombudsman. But, alas, it was not to be.

Originally mathematician, but that changed when I discovered I could write. I still have dreams of living like a pauper out of LS, saving up a ton of money by the time i'm 30, and taking a year or two vacation to try to write a novel. I'm the kind of guy who has a vague idea of where I want to go and will explore lots of different avenues while waiting for a good opportunity to arise rather than having a goal 10 years in advance, so it might end up being something out of left field.

But probably copyright law, trying to get into pro writing.
