easy money here is dog walking. animal shelters always need help guys! I'm sure those pups'll appreciate you. Most likely community service to come with kisses
soup kitchens and food drives always needs folks to volunteer
your library always needs folks to volunteer
retirement homes always need folks to volunteer
oh I agree - tons of opportunities to help people. I just meant, in my experience you can just walk into an animal shelter and be like, need anyone to walk some dogs? and be out walking in all of five minutes. you also don't have to interact with people and its easy work. Likely not the most important or impactful thing you could with your afternoon, but its something. Again, in my experience, there's a bit more leg work to start volunteering in a soup kitchen.

Have been looking for volunteer opportunities for about 20 minutes now and so many require a six month/year-long commitment... ugh

Honor system, more or less, but don't be a terrible lying scumbag asshole because it'll come back, I'm sure.
4 hours starting TODAY or does it include all the community service hours we've done since the beginning of this month :P

today, but, again, honor system and if you've been doing community service and can't get to it in the next couple weeks, I wouldn't be upset (and, whothefuckami?) if I found out otherwise.

I've been a volunteer at my local animal shelter for a couple years and had to commit to a minimum of one year, interview, and complete 4 different training sessions before I could even start. This probably isn't the case at all animal shelters, but I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of them had similar requirements (probably trying to filter out the weirdos/people who aren't well-equipped to handle animals)
