oh, i guess thats not that bad. which one do you pick?
I plan on getting internet at my apartment, so I planned on just using the 10gb per week plan, but $3 more gets me 50GB and $1 more than that gets me 200 GB. I don't think I would ever use 200 gb in a week, let alone 50 gb. All I plan to do on campus is stream music/podcasts/maybe youtube.

I'll get the 10gb/week

200 GB/week seems like the best deal/safest option. does it say how many devices you can have?

Nope. You probably just have log into the network with your email/username and password with each device.

Damn, no free printing is really annoying.

I just submitted my renegotiation form, so selfishly I hope Texas has had fewer people deposit than they were expecting!

Free things aren't really free when you're paying tens of thousands of dollars to attend a school anyway

+100

Paying out of pocket for wifi and for counseling one-on-one (both which admittedly are not a lot of money) strikes me as weird with all the student fees.

Okay, let me put it this way. Having printing not included as part of my student fees sucks. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter. And to Amta's point, it is hard to complain too much when the in state tuition is so much lower than others, so I'll stop my bitching now!

If you refuse to be annoyed by and openly complain about inconsequential things then I highly advise not going to law school

I'll admit I had a pretty good laugh at that one!

I bought a cheap little printer and haven't given a dime to UT by printing at school. I recommend this.

I did the 10 the first two years, but this year I'm stubborn and refused to pay. This semester I usually run out of internet by Tuesday's because 3LOL.

I can't remember if I mentioned it, but if you use AT&T for your cable or internet at your apartment, you can use that login at UT and get onto the free wifi with no data caps.

I don't know how I figured it out. There's a separate wifi to connect to that says "attwifi" but I don't think that there's anything on the UT Law website (quick google search only tuned up some FAQs from the main UT site, and of course they're buried in obscure parts of the website).

Where's the UT reconsideration process?

Also, is there a way to get a stipend for visiting outside of ASW since I was accepted afterwards?

There should be link in the email with the scholarship offer.

Not sure about the stipend.

Tazewell wrote:I just finished Dean Farnsworth's book and it was a really good read! Highly recommend emailing them and asking for a copy. I don't think it'll help you in law school, but it's a super easy and interesting read. He really ties in economic principles, behavioral theories, and psychology into practicing law and gives simple, every day examples to explain them. It helps you think about why things are the way they are. I also love how he recommends further readings at the end of every chapter. He kind of says "if you like it and want to go down this rabbit hole, here's these books/articles".
He teaches a seminar covering the book, so yeah, it might actually help you to have read it.
I should have been a little more clear and stated that I don't think it will help you during 1L. That's really cool that he teaches a seminar over it, though! I wasn't aware of that.
Actually a 1L elective. ;)
Yeah, he pitched it to me and it seems pretty cool. He said he likes teaching, but with all of his other duties he doesn't get to do much of it anymore. He uses the class as a way to stay connected to the students and do something he likes. He uses his book and the class is pass/fail and meets once a week.
FYI, the Dean is very involved with students. He has an ice cream social in small 1L groups (15ish people). You see him wandering the halls, and he knows everyone by name. It's unsettling the first time you meet with him, and he just knows who you are. Correction, he doesn't just know who you are. He knows your entire life story.

He also funds public interest summer work, which is pretty cool. He matches student donations and then makes up the rest so every public interest summer person is funded. So uhh... yeah. The Dean is very involved. It's impossible to not see how involved he and everyone else are. If you're looking for a school where you're not just a number, this is it for T14.

You can get by on the wifi cap. Last semester, I didn't hit it. This semester I hit it a few weeks ago, purely because I have a tendency to spend my class breaks listening to Spotify and watching Netflix. If you don't do that, you're solid. If you do, pay a few bucks.

Or alternatively, pay 20k more for tuition and go to another T14. *shrug* Up to you.

..or not use wifi. That's a bit of a leap to go elsewhere.

Got an extra 2k per year after negotiating, needed about 8k to attend. I'll probably be withdrawing by Friday

Anyone else get the drawstring bag for sending in the deposit? It's kind of cool. I guess I can take it to the gym or something. There is also a note from Farnsworth and he mentions you can get a copy of his book by emailing him.

Not yet, but maybe I'm further away.

Also I'm pretty sure I'll be withdrawing because of $$$ elsewhere and a less than stellar reconsideration, and I wish I had taken advantage of getting that book when I had the chance.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
