cant complain. especially with ASD around the corner. Super curious about the "forced" social groupings since im terrible at making friends.

Wait, there's going to be "forced" social groupings?

Not sure if it's forced, but I saw somewhere on this thread or the Classs of 2020 thread where, if you voluntarily choose to, groups are formed between students to foster bonding. They play games together and stuff.

Hoping a current student or someone who attended ASD can answer these questions:

1. Is there a ranking system?
2. What's the typical class size?
3. What are the odds that I can get a firm job in Florida right out of school? (Lived there most of my life, so I definitely have ties).
4. How accessible are the professors?

Thanks!

What seems to be their policy on negotiating?

You fill out a reconsideration form. I think that's your only shot of getting more money (or that's what they say at least).

It seems like it's a one-shot thing right? You submit the form, get a response and if they increase it you can't really ask for more even if it's not enough?

I'm visiting UT Law this week. Any suggestions on what to look at in Austin/@ the school?

Barton Springs pool if it gets hot enough, kayaking on Town Lake if it doesn't, Chicken Shit Bingo if you're there on a Sunday, South Congress if you like shopping, the Bullock museum if you're a history nerd. If you're going out at night, east 6th if you like hipster dives, east 12th if you like actual dives, Rainey if you're a liberal yuppie, west 6th if you're a non-liberal yuppie, dirty 6th if you like dubstep and frat boys. The school itself is pretty small compared to the rest of the campus so your tour will only last about 45 minutes, but my tour guide was able to tell me a lot about the law school that wasn't clear from the website, especially if you're interested in extra-curriculars. Hoover's for BBQ, Taco More> Taco Joint > Tacodeli > Torchy's, Arlo's if you're not into meat.

I second Hoover's. Also, Black's BBQ on Guadalupe, Mexican Vanilla ice cream at Amy's, brunch at Magnolia cafe. I'd also recommend walking Guadalupe, South Congress, and 6th street to get a feel for the city. Maybe the bat bridge if it's still in-season.

Skip Matt's Famous El Rancho if you're looking for TexMex.

Lick ice cream (interesting sort of flavors, better than Amy's); Prohibition Creamery (ice cream + alcohol is fun). I don't eat meat but I can recommend vegetarian-friendly places, if interested. Food/bars like Whip In, a lot on East 6th street. Lady Bird Lake Trail is like 6 miles long and a good place to visit. Probably check out around campus area for housing if you have a car/are bored af.

Non-existent. All I remember getting is a pen.

Same. I didn't get anything. A girl sitting next to me found a table with pens and beer coozies, though.

Not sure it's that unusual. Vandy didn't give out any merch either last weekend.

I'll check, but I really doubt it. I don't understand why people use them/don't exclusively use disposable ones.

How easy/difficult is it to become a resident/qualify for in-state tuition after 1L?

I've never seen these coozies. Maybe they started giving them out after I gave up on life/grades.

Don't actually remember if any were from the school.
