yeah. where should i live and when should i start looking?

Also taking any inquires. As far as where to live, the closer the better, generally. But if you want to be removed for more space, SO considerations, I would definitely recommend north (westish) side of campus. It's not terrible getting into campus. I wouldn't go north of 183 as a general guideline. Burnett and Lamar have some cool places that are decently priced. South side is more risky concerning traffic and SoCo is over-hyped IMO.

Also, I would start looking as soon as you feel comfortable. I found my place one month before classes started, so YMMV.

Seems like everyone lives at Sabina these days. I think common wisdom is not to live in west campus, but I (basically) live in west campus and it's fine. TBH housing is what I know the least about. I came for a visit in May and found a realtor to drive me around to like 6 apartments and picked one, then I stayed for 3 years cause moving sucks.

I live in the Hyde Park area. Cannibal is right though, no one wants to move. Moving after the bar is going to be extremely miserable.

My place is walking distance to the law school and just a few blocks from the UT campus, so it's in demand (relatively). I got asked in December when I was studying for my 1L fall exams if I wanted to sign a lease for another year, otherwise they'd be bringing people by for apartment showings. I had lived there 4 months. Of course I said yeah I'll stay, just leave me alone.

I started looking for apartments back in march and april. I signed a lease for an apartment on red river street about a half mile from the law school. It's pretty expensive, but I plan on looking for roommates for 2l and 3l after I get to know people.

would you recommend getting a realtor or did you just do that out of ease.

Yes, especially if you're not familiar with the area. It's free. They make their money by getting you an apartment.

I'm living on West 36th st. and I'm having trouble navigating the bus routes. Can any current students help me out with if there's any bus routes close and pretty easily accessible, or should I just go ahead and buy a parking pass?

I'm not familiar with that particular bus route, but you can just download Google maps and see the bus routes it recommends

How far west? If it's where I think, the Exposition/Chicon loop bus is practically a perfect route.

We're west of Shoal Creek and pretty much right off of Mopac if that helps any.

That's where I was thinking. 21 to school (clockwise loop)/22 home (counterclockwise) is perfect. Drops off at law library and picks up across the street. Home stops both ways are on 35th street between MoPac and Jefferson.

I don't know how frequently it runs, but I can't imagine that the ride once aboard takes more than 12 minutes. 15 in heavy traffic.

Other than sending in the letter of intent and official transcripts is there anything else we need to do?

It'll probably be somewhere in the 290s.
