I've been looking for months and am on the edge of madness knowing that NYC real estate makes it pointless to look more than a month or so in advanceBaby Gaga wrote:I started looking at apartments around NYU and I have to say

Re: NYU Class of 2020
I have been obsessively browsing listings in neighborhoods I would want to live in since probably October, and so I feel like I'm used to seeing $2,000+ rents at this point and it doesn't stress me out as much to look at.Baby Gaga wrote:I started looking at apartments around NYU and I have to say
But I'm coming from one of the lowest cost states in the country, so I think actually having to pay that NYC rent might give me a heart attack.

well, idk if my current state is one of the lowest costs, but it's certainly a hell of a lot cheaper than NYC
looking for apartments also makes me really excited, though, picturing a new life in a new city!

My current rent is $725 for a house with a backyard, split with one other person, so $362.50 for my half. And still I am looking forward to moving into a $2,000 shoebox with another person and two animals. I think I have NYU Stockholm Syndrome.

OMG what state do you live in right now? I'm paying $1100/month for a 1 BR, 1 BA 1000 sq ft apartment with my husband and I thought that was pretty good!theothercat wrote:

But yeah, the COL is unbelievable here. Only downside is you have to live here.

Re: NYU Class of 2020
He has a car with his face plastered all over it and he drives that around Wash Sq/Union Sq all the time! And then he's just walking around campus trying to recruit students into his cause as well but 99.9% of the time is used for photo ops hahaaBaby Gaga wrote:not intentional but thats hilarious! does he just walk around or is he holding court on the street?Thomas Hagan, ESQ. wrote:I dont know if this was intentional but Jimmy McMillan is ALWAYS around NYU haha so you'll definitely see him!Baby Gaga wrote:I started looking at apartments around NYU and I have to say
Basically NYU's unofficial mascot since our actual mascot is the Bobcat (while our team name is the "violets...") which is named after the Bobst Library Catalog System LOLOL

I think he's a reasonable mascot for NYU after I've seen these prices

I'm pretty sure the Admissions Office can try to match you with a current student to stay for night, if that's something you're interested in! I asked to be matched, but I'm still in school so I'm used to sleeping in jank apartments hahactl95 wrote:Is anyone going to the ASDs on March 2-3

Re: NYU Class of 2020
Is anyone thinking about going to the Columbia and NYU admitted students days the same weekend? Does anyone do a day and a half at each, or how do people handle that? I want to go to all of both, but this may make more sense...

Re: NYU Class of 2020
Sooo... what neighborhoods are you all thinking about moving to (if you're not in NYC already)? Or are you planning to live in NYU housing?
I'm thinking either Harlem/Washington Heights/Hell's Kitchen or somewhere in Brooklyn with a reasonable train ride to NYU.
