If you're still deciding... Admitted Students Weekend
  • March 24-26 and April 22-24
  • ASW Homepage
  • Accommodations for ASW
  • HLS encourages visitors to travel by way of public transportation instead of cars because of the extremely limited parking.
  • You are eligible for some level of reimbursement for ASW if you received a fee waiver.
Will update with more info soon

Checking in. Leaning Harvard, but waiting for a few more decisions.

Second on this. Waiting for Yale and Ruby personally -- that's not to say I'll take either over Harvard, but if I get either, I'll definitely consider it.

Why are you turning down the Hamilton?
To go to Harvard, of course.

But really, my reasons are that I will likely receive significant grant aid, so it's not sticker at H, and I am 100% set on pursuing public interest, and will take advantage of LRAP, further reducing the difference in cost. More subjectively, H has been my dream for years. I'm not very debt adverse, and I don't mind never having much money.
As a current 3L who also got substantial grant aid, and was devoted to PI from the start, I implore you to start reading up on the specific details of LIPP (Harvard's LRAP) now. I'm not trying to dissuade you - not at all - but the truth is that LIPP is not as "sunshine and roses" as they try to make it seem like it is. Just be sure you make an informed opinion.

Also FWIW I was also admitted to SLS (didn't apply to YLS so can't speak to that), and their program wasn't any better and arguably was worse, but I cannot speak to the administration of it. A lot of LIPP's problems come from poor administration of the program (there is a huge disconnect between the financial office and the LIPP people, so much so that wrong tax forms get sent out and checks go missing).

Anybody bought their ASW plane tickets yet? I'm flying from a pretty out-of-the-way area and it's proving to be a pain in the ass. Probably going to have to arrive Thursday afternoon and leave Sunday morning.

Heyyo, checking in a little late, but I have a question for y'all. Are you responding to all of these emails from from the admissions office and faculty? My interviewer keeps emailing me about things I may be interested in or just letting me know that he is available for questions. I am just wondering whether I should be making an effort to respond to these types of emails (e.g. if they're actually individualized), or if I should only respond if I truly have questions.

I'd say your instinct is right, and just wait to respond until you have a particular request or a solid set of questions that can't be answered from the information available on the website. I responded asking to be put in touch with a recent alum in a field that interests me, but have yet to receive a response.

Does the admissions staff add you to the facebook page or do you request to join?
