How are people hearing about merit-based aid? Email? Snail mail? Phone call?

Thanks for answering. Can I ask when you were admitted and when you heard about the scholarship?jdanz wrote:snail mail for megypsyroselily wrote:How are people hearing about merit-based aid? Email? Snail mail? Phone call?

That's very frustrating. I was admitted 10/18/16 and NO info on scholarships. I have a 168 and 3.86 GPA so it could just mean I'm not getting anything.RParadela wrote:Different poster here but I got my scholly from snail mail a few days after being accepted. Someone on LSN got a very large scholly with a 168 (non-URM), so I hope we're not all left out in the cold!gypsyroselily wrote:That's very frustrating. Mini-rant: Planning my travel for this weekend is nigh impossible. I will do it, but my sanity will not appreciate all these layovers.

Get used to it. Cville is the regionalist of regional airports. You're gate checking your wallet for flights to Cville.azaleafire wrote:Mini-rant: Planning my travel for this weekend is nigh impossible. I will do it, but my sanity will not appreciate all these layovers.

I was admitted last month and I've still been frantically checking my mail every day as if something will be there.TexasENG wrote:I hear that. Was admitted the first week and been silence for me on the fin-aid front. Hope to be joining you guys soon but had a question. Did you get an interview request before or after going UR2? And how long before/after? Thanks!

After. Like 2 months after. But hey, at least once you interview it's like maybe a day or two before you're accepted.JG820 wrote:Hope to be joining you guys soon but had a question. Did you get an interview request before or after going UR2? And how long before/after? Thanks!

Anybody going to the NYC admitted students dinner next week?
I was curious as to how to dress, and as to how formal the dinner actually is.

My friend goes to the undergrad. Its a walk but hey, worth the savings to me and I will have a car anyway. And I haven't seen her in two years.Class2020Law` wrote:Hi all, longtime lurker and first time poster checking in.

Re: UVA Class of 2020
I went to the one in LA and it was at a casual restaurant so I just dressed in a black long sleeve top and jeans. Some of the girls were wearing similar casual things and some guys were wearing those collared long sleeve shirts (I have noo idea what they're called) but definitely no one was wearing suits and a tie unless they were like alumni. If the NYC dinner is at a casual restaurant as well, it should be pretty similar!ReadyToStart wrote:Anybody going to the NYC admitted students dinner next week?

Re: UVA Class of 2020
I found a cheap hotel near the law school and several other TLSers are gonna be staying there, so if you (or anybody else for that matter) is interested PM me and I can share you details. We can be neighbors! I won't post publicly on the forum just in case I have some crazy stalkers out thereClass2020Law` wrote:Hi all, longtime lurker and first time poster checking in.

Staying at the Inn at Darden. Surprisingly low cost, and it's practically at the law school groundsClass2020Law` wrote:Hi all, longtime lurker and first time poster checking in.

Same. Definitely a solid option, and one where you're practically guaranteed no one is freebasing in the room next to you (not a guarantee at some of the cheaper offerings north of town).mrgstephe wrote:Staying at the Inn at Darden. We should probably start a groupme for the UVA ASW soon so we can have a meetup. Friday is St. Patrick's day so it'll be a good time to hit the bars in Charlottsville
