Great banner! Going up this weekend with my SO to sign a lease to a house about a 100 yards from the law school. I could not be more excited!

Edit: If anyone has questions regarding how to go about finding a nearby house, feel free to PM me.

Thanks! And congrats on finding housing! I just signed my lease this week and it was such a relief.

Still trying to think of a good poll -- any suggestions are welcome! :)
Congrats to you as well! Perhaps "what was the most influential factor behind you choosing UF Law?" Then list what Dean Rosenbury was preaching throughout the Admitted Students day events (top law school in florida, alumni base, price/scholly etc)

Great job on the banner! It looks really good. I'm going to UF mostly because of the financial package they offered, but also geography.

So, what area of law are you all interested in?

I'll start - I'm more interested (for now) in real estate/wills/estates and trusts, and maybe a little bit of ADR, but my background is in criminal law and in order to leverage any of my resume, it'll have to be crim law. But, I am also aware that I may take classes in those areas and hate them, so I'm open minded about where I end up.

Nice! Good perspective going into it too :D

I want to do some sort of litigation in the private sector. I know general commercial litigation is a common practice throughout many of the small firms in the state so I would definitely be attracted to that. The stigma is horrible towards personal injury but I feel like I would enjoy that as well.

Man, that stigma kinda surprises me, especially among lawyers. I guess I just don't understand why that's stigmatized, but other areas of practice are not.

Thanks for setting up this thread! My decision to attend UF was based on finances and career advancement. I'm a few years into my career so there are some opportunity costs associated with going back to school. My background is in biomedical/clinical research so I'm looking into patent law but open to exploring other areas of law.

They look pretty good to me. Compared to last year, slightly more lawyer jobs overall but less jobs at big law firms (100+). Do you know if this is employment at graduation or 9 months out?

9 months out for sure. I heard that only about 40% of students have a job lined up at graduation. My understanding is that most small firms wait for you to pass the bar to offer.

I am interested in criminal law and international law. I have been exposed to criminal law through several internships, but I am keeping an open mind, as there are so many other areas to explore. I'd like to be exposed to transactional or business law, to try something new and different. Right now, my hope and goal is to get into JAG.

I haven't not. I just looked and assumed it would be here, but it looks like that's still set up for the first deposit of $200.00. Maybe try calling the admissions office? I'm now very curious about this.
I know people are still paying the original seat deposit, which is due by Friday for those admitted after the initial deadline. Since the final deposit deadline isn't until June, maybe they're waiting until after this Friday to post a link?

From my own research looking at other law school employment stats in-state and out of state the numbers are solid. I hope that will become the trend for UF given Dean Rosenbury ambitious goals.

OP, how about a poll asking what everyone is doing until school starts?
