I was accepted the same date and got my package nearly a month ago. Unless you're international, it's probably time to call and find out what happened to it.lemondrop wrote:Hmm... I just realized I never got my admissions package in the mail. Accepted 2/4. Is this normal?

On the topic of negotiating scholarships, have people in the past been very successful in negotiations? Frankly I feel as though I have no leg to stand on in negotiations with UChicago.. I'm surprised they offered anything in the first place so I was wondering what strategies people have used in the past and what schools Chicago would consider worthy of matching/negotiating offers against?

For what it's worth, I found this article earlier today that was enlightening on how to move forward with scholarships at UC

I am waiting to negotiate until I have some better leverage. Most of the schools I think Chicago would care about competing offers from haven't given me scholarship info yet. NYU offered me marginally more than Chicago, but not enough to make for any significant negotiation material.

Anyone know where negotiation emails should be sent to? Admissions, fin aid or Kevin Petty himself (which is who sent me my offer)?

does anyone know what parking is like on campus? i.e., is there a lot you can pay for monthly? or are there often metered/street spots available?

+1 I thought it was going to be really weird, but I'm cheap so I did it anyway. So glad I did-- the hosts are hosting for a reason (because they want to show you/sell you on the school), and sometimes you're paired up with another admitted student which can be nice. Plus, you're not crashing on a couch-- they provide air mattresses for everyone who signs up!Wahrheit wrote:Highly recommend you opt to stay with a current student, both to save money and because it'll make everything easier.dmp1323 wrote:For people going to ASW - what hotel are you staying at?

I do know a few 1Ls who didn't get the law school lot, but there was space for them in the Harris lot (just at the end of the block). I believe the fee is the same ($90/month). Parking on the Midway is free, but really difficult to get unless you plan to be there every morning around 7am. Alternatively, there are two free buses that go from the law school and loop through Hyde Park that most students take (Shoreland and Regents are both on those routes).lnlia707 wrote:does anyone know what parking is like on campus? i.e., is there a lot you can pay for monthly? or are there often metered/street spots available?

For those that asked how to negotiate, there is a specific negotiation form that you can find on the admitted students site. I wanted to wait to hear from Columbia but submitted a little while ago to get the process moving.justakicker wrote:Anyone attempt negotiating yet?
To answer the question above, I submitted I think two weeks ago and haven't heard anything yet. I'll try to post when I do

Same. To be fair from what I am seeing on the admitted students page it tells you to send an email to get a link to the form though.gamerish wrote:Well I guess I already messed up because I sent an email lolKiltedKicker wrote:For those that asked how to negotiate, there is a specific negotiation form that you can find on the admitted students site. So you definitely need to email them to receive the link? Just want to make sure as I do not see any link on the admitted students website.KiltedKicker wrote:Ahh, I thought I'd seen a link to it on the admitted students site. And if so, do I just email the general financial aid, or say Kevin petty?

Oops. Totally missed that. LOL thanks!tappatappatappa wrote:From the Admitted Students website:
If you have concerns about your scholarship award:
We understand that financial considerations are often a significant factor for an admitted student in deciding which law school to attend. While we do not have a matching scholarship program, we are committed to mitigating financial concerns for those who are truly interested in studying law at UChicago and are happy to learn more about your circumstances. You may request a review of your financial aid package by emailing financialaid@law.uchicago.edu. We will send you a link to an electronic form where you can provide additional information about your situation, including other scholarship offers that you are seriously considering. We will review these requests in late April. Although we simply do not have the ability to adjust all scholarship awards, we are still very interested in discussing your situation and alleviating your concerns as best we can.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
