Ugh. I've been going over Rachlinski's old exams, and now I'm just terrified. But I think I understand Gasperini, so that's cool, I guess.

Any 2Ls or 3Ls lurking around here who might have had Tebbe for con law... any advice for the final? Con law is my worst subject :(

I've heard it was pretty awful.

There should have been a date listed in the last issue of Scoops (if that still exists), although they will likely come out 1-2 business days before that date.

Thanks Lavitz. Scoops does indeed still exist, I'll check it out.

So if he's that bad, why is he teaching again? Also, is there anything that we can actually do about it? i've heard he skipped like a month of class and handed out B- like candy.

Sigh. Prior to exams I was like, pfffft there's no way I'll be below median.

And now I'm like, please god, please just let me be at median!

Don't know the professor in question but my guess is the answer is tenure

I understand that professors are hired to publish and tenure makes them damn near untouchable. My question is why have a professor with such an overwhelmingly negative reception teach 1L property. I get him teaching a small seminar or upper level class.

Word on the street is that he gave a ridiculous 24 hour exam last year and gave a good chunk of the class shitty grades.

I have no idea what the class of 2018 managed to communicate to anyone in the administration. I would guess that nobody cares if a professor doesn't teach the subject well, which is all that you can evaluate with the class evaluation forms. Torres has always had a harsh curve in his classes, and IME professors don't pay attention to other professors' grading, so maybe someone just needs to explain to him how a 24 hour take-home and grading at the lower end of the curve screws over his 1Ls. I know Rana changed from a 24 hour take-home to an 8 hour after he found out that 1Ls were spending the entire 24 hours on it and it was screwing them up for their other exams.

2L here who had torres. he was an objectively bad teacher... was very unstructured. he did skip like a week or 2 worth of material, but that's good for you - less stuff to study for. as for his exam, i did pretty well in the class and spent a relaxed 10 hours on it. wish i couldv'e told you sooner but ditch the textbook and go with the understanding property supplement. where torres fails is clarity -- the supplement makes up for that.

maybe this will help out those who have him next semester?... they r teaching property to the other half of 1Ls right? and esp. if torres is teaching it again

*also i came here to find out when grades r coming out bc i figured yall would be talking about it..

To save everyone time and effort:

Assuming no delays, grades are scheduled to be posted on Friday, January 6, 2017. However, if history serves as any indicator, they will likely be released as early as January 3, 2017, and will almost certainly be released prior to Friday.

She said it's also likely that we'll get some Friday, and then the rest on Monday, since again, apparently a lot of professors haven't handed them in yet. Maybe (hopefully?) she's wrong, but just to alleviate some uncertainty...
They said the same thing last year. Grades were due on the 4th, and they came out on the 5th. I'd still check on Thursday.

Tomorrow by 1:30pm is my guess. Then again, ny guess is just wild speculation/gut feeling that could also just be taco-Tuesday indigestion

ETA: I forgot they didn't open on the 3rd. So Make that the 5th.

https://registrar.cornell.edu/Student/s ... enter.html
Student Center --> Grades from drop down list under Academics

Usually the most neurotic refresher in the class will alert everyone when grades are up.

Official e-mails usually come the day after.

Serious question: How do you use class GPA information to judge how well you are doing based on your own GPA? I'm not sure how to feel about my grades.

+1. i read somewhere that the median is around 3.35 at cornell, so i know my GPA relative to that. but if someone could explain how to calculate what percentile you're in, based on the median GPA and your GPA, that would be cool. i'm bad at math.
