Also looking at LP. Streeterville just seemed boring.

Bad Yelp reviews, besides that I have no experience.Kenga wrote:Does anyone here know anything about BJB Properties as a management company? They have lots of properties that apparently rent for (relatively) decent prices. To me, it looks too good to be true. Anyone have any experience?

When are people planning on moving to Chicago?
And do you have any exciting trips planned or something to look forward to? I'm quitting my job soon and have at least 5 trips planned between now and August. What about y'all?

Are you going to Chicago to sign a lease or just doing it remotely?
I haven't gotten one yet either, did you submit all of your paperwork during ASW? And what did you list as your qualifying reimbursement expenses? All travel or travel+hotel?TheWalkingDebt wrote:Mine has not even arrived yet. When did you get yours?James.K.Polk wrote:Did anyone get way less travel reimbursement than they expected?

BJB can be hit or miss. Some locations have terrible maintenance, apparently. I lived in one building and it was fine, though. The nice thing about BJB is that it gives you cable and internet included in the rent. When you look at BJB properties make sure that the specific property you are looking at is good because small things will vary a lot (i.e. maintenance, being able to open your oven all the way without..., having the enough insulation to keep you warm during winter...)I moved to a Reside place last year. They're a bit nicer and I still get free internet through the building's network. To me, the improved quality is worth the price, but I can understand why others wouldn't think so. PM me if you want to split the Reside referral bonus.James.K.Polk wrote:Bad Yelp reviews, besides that I have no experience.Kenga wrote:Does anyone here know anything about BJB Properties as a management company? My brother recently got a place in Lincoln Park, and he did the bulk of of his searching on Craiglist. There are some really nice places for (relatively) cheap, we're just a little too far out to see them. Most won't become available (Craiglist or otherwise) until June 1, I'd expect, assuming you want an August 1 move-in.
Where at? Most of the places I was interested in said they wouldn't know availability until June, so I'm just waiting....urbanist11 wrote:Signed my lease!!! So excited to move to Chicago
I moved with two cats as well! It's never quite as stressful as you're anticipating though! Good luck!EvergreenStateLady wrote:My husband and I are currently applying to an apartment in Streeterville. I can't imagine why we wouldn't get it. So excited but also nervous about everything. I wish moving wasn't stressful, it's going to be especially bad since we have cats.
