Checking in with a question -

For any other JD/LLM folks out there: this is stupid, but does the summer start still exist? When I did my research (which was before I moved to a developing country for over a year where internet was a very rare treat in my life) the program started in May I believe, but now I can't find anything on the website or in my admissions packet about it.

Hi! I emailed the admissions office with the same question, and they said that JD/LLM program starts in the fall as well. Not sure how orientation week works for us, though. Hope this helps!

Checking In! Duke is one of the schools that's topping my list, especially after researching employment prospects (that's why we're all going to law school, to be a lawyer). Hopefully everything works out!

So I've started researching apartments near Duke and omg there are so many GORGEOUS, brand-spankin new (but pricey...~$1300/1BR) ones nearby! And pretty decent-looking cheaper ones, too. Eeep I'm so excited to make the move up to Durham!

In addition to the one's that the school promotes, I'd encourage you to look around at what is available on hotpads/zillow. SO and I have been looking at houses/townhouses within 10 minutes of the school and there are some very reasonable places. Of course, what is available now won't necessarily be available come time that we need it, but it is a good way to find townhouse complexes, and get a good price estimate for your needs.

Hopefully you weren't dying to OP this thread too. Sorry if I stole it from you  (I borrowed some things from the OP of the applicant thread...thanks!)

Ha! No hard feelings. I've had plenty of time to claim it if I wanted it. Though truthfully I'm not set enough on any school to take on that task.

How bad do you guys think it's gonna be now that I missed my scholly interview? (I honestly don't know how I could be this stupid...)

Really not sure about this. I don't remember seeing anything in the previous threads about it. I'd contact fin aid asap and let them know what's up. They've all been really nice to me this far, so I think they will be understanding. It may cause you to have to schedule an interview later (which will push back your timeline), but contacting them asap (probably preferably by phone) is definitely the bes next step.

Thanks! I've emailed them but have not called yet, so that's what I'm doing now.

Checking in! Duke's by far my top choice but still waiting for scholly info and to hear back from a couple schools. That said, I've visited Duke and North Carolina a couple of times and really love it.

Charlie, I missed my interview as well, so you're not alone in your stupidity; I'm about to contact the financial aid office about it as well. Also, checking in!

Anyone know if they offer housing (i.e. with a law student) for the admitted students weekend? Trying to make this feasible considering I'm coming from California and flight prices are ~$500.

I don't think they organize something like this, though it would be an interesting idea to bring up. The best way to manage this would be to try and contact a current student on here or see if admissions can put you in contact with someone who may be able to help. They do assist with a stipend (if you didn't see that), and hotels are decently priced (though I don't know which ones are in the immediate area).

I think Duke Law has the best Insta account of the T14

good mix of shots of the law grounds, TBTs, and quasi-informative posts about cool speakers and events

Their FB page and Youtube channel have a bunch of cool stuff too. (I'm not on IG so I didn't check it out/link it - Twitter either - will check out though and probably link in OP).
