i am having fun though. columbia law is fun.
i feel you but everyone is NERVOUS. it's not shocking
I definitely took more notes than strictly necessary (especially considering Bobbitt makes it pretty clear what we're discussing isn't being tested on), but I'm also sort of trying to get back into the note-taking habit.

I had been out for a while when I wrote that, didn't mean to judge anyone else. It ended up being meaner than I intended.

I am honestly not that nervous about legal methods, though. Worst case scenario, you look kind of dumb for 2 minutes and then everyone forgets about it.

Guys, do not stress about Legal Methods. Seriously. I cannot express to you the amount to which it does not matter, even though it feels like your entire life right now. You're not going to miss out on any critical development as a law student because you didn't read every word of Swift v. Tyson.

Skim your reading (maybe) and then go to Bar Review tonight. Seriously.

Just to be clear, I'm one of the people who did not follow this advice last year and regretted it a lot, because while people are friendly all year it's a lot easier to make friends during Legal Methods and the early part of the semester, especially outside your section, before everyone gets busy. Don't be like me. Close the Legal Methods book and go out.

I know it's super early and a lot of you won't know for sure what you're doing next summer for months, but if any of you know you're going to be out of NYC for the summer and are interested in subletting your apartment for 2-3 months, please let me know!

I keep hearing people (advisors and professors, mostly) say we should start now and that seems nuts

yeah, I think general consensus from most actual TLS past students is you don't need to start AT LEAST until like mid October.

So Ginsburg's LM exam hypo was set in the fictional "New Hazard". Apparently towards the end of my exam I slipped up and started typing out "New Haven" instead

Hey guys - not attending Columbia, but we have a new professor who was an "associate-in-law" at Columbia recently, and am looking for study materials:

We have a new 1L professor teaching our Civ Pro. course and she previously taught/worked at Columbia Law. Would anyone be able to send past exams or outlines for Columbia's Civ. Pro? Preferably stuff within the last five years. I ask because she said she is using past exams not from our school.

FWIW: we began our class with pleading and complaints, rather than the typical starting point of subject matter jurisdiction.

Thanks and good luck with finals!

Anyone actually get any substantial grades back yet? Legal Methods does not count.

FWIW two of my first semester 1L grades posted in the afternoon of the day grades were due (i.e., tomorrow)

Thanks for telling us - this is driving me nuts! One of my profs told us grades were submitted over a week ago.

By when did you have all of your grades?
