And for pc I would look at the dell xps 13. If you had a specific budget in mind I can probably provide a recommendation. Personally I don't think you need a 3 year accident warranty, but I'm not very clumsy with my laptop either.

I think it's less about finding a retailer with good deals and more about selecting a computer that you want and then finding the best deal for it. I generally start by looking at the websites for HP, Dell, and Lenovo to see what's available in my general price and specs range. And then once I settle on something that looks good (using engadget and pcmag reviews), I'll shop around to find the best deal. The microsoft store has been pretty consistently good for deals lately. And consider waiting until at least memorial day or late-summer back-to-school sales to get the same comp at a sizeable discount.

Has anyone gone to/is anyone planning on going to one of the local UVA Alumni receptions? It seems like a great way to meet people, but I also don't want to be the only person in the room who isn't actually an alum (or even a student).

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'll be moving to Charlottesville in the fall and don't currently have anyone to get a place with. Not to be that guy, but do any of you know when we will hear about class schedules for the upcoming fall, and if there is a list yet of standard books/materials for the 1L year? Would just like to get the ball rolling on some of these things.

Unless they change things, you won't get your section assignments (and corresponding book list) until a few days before orientation starts in August.

You'll be in Criminal Law, Civil Procedure, Contracts, and Torts. That's about all you need to know for now. Don't sweat it on books and classes. Courts & Commerce (the bookstore in the law school) has all the books you'll need, and you'll find out with enough time to prime something if you find it cheaper on Amazon.

Seriously don't try to start early. A kid in my section had read far ahead for the start of class and he ended up looking like a fool in front of the class and prof trying to talk about stuff we hadn't learned yet.

In case anyone else is still looking, Ivy appears to be the last source of 1 bedroom apartments within walking distance. Probably going to put down a deposit on Monday.

ETA: the school made "UVA Law Class of 2019" and the student-created one is called "UVA Law Class of 2019 Lawhoos" We're having all sorts of fun in the Lawhoos group so find us!

Met some great people at the Dallas one, and they had great free food and liquor. Recommend.

Just withdrew from Harvard's waitlist and paid my second seat deposit yesterday so I guess it's officially official that I'll be at UVA in August! So glad this process is completely over and so excited to be starting with you guys this fall! Lawhoowa!
