Public sector person: "Gray, you have a very impressive resume here, but it looks like you worked at a firm this past summer? Why did you choose to do that when you want to end up in the public sector?"

lololol love the all caps
i'm probably overly linkedin sensitive/cautious but your heading should be "law student" or some variation of that while you are still in law school, you don't need to update it every job you ever get

Ditto. It's amazing how working in-house you have these mind-numbingly boring lulls after the storm. August can't get here soon enough.

I'm a few weeks short of repeatedly smashing my face into an oversize panic button. Over 30% of my classmates will have locked up employment after this summer and I'll be trying to figure out what to do with my life. That's how I feel.

I never really understood the fascination with big law; only a very select few will turn that into a long term career. Plaintiff work is where it's at. Just got done with a case involving a shithead named Erich Spangenberg; look that dude up.

30% is a number that isn't anchored to any meaningful data. I made it up. It's going to feel like 90%, but I'm trying to make it feel more objective so I don't freak out.
I spent doing both summers big fed so I hope that counts for something. At this point in the game, I have learned not to get my hopes up. I was once told "Hope for the best, but plan for the worst" but I think "Plan for the worst and be surprised if anything goes right" is more apt.

Sounds about right. For me its "plan for the worst but recognize that you simply lack the imagination to comprehend what the actual worst can and will be."

What are you guys doing with your weeks off before school starts? I'm torn between capitalizing on limited free time before it's all over and saving money.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
