Re: Not the Sharpest 2L in the Shed
I was about to buy 2 pair of some really expensive shoes at Nordstrom (forgot the brand) yesterday but then tried on the Nordstrom house brand and they fit really well and were a third the price.

i can pretty close to promise you that men's warehouse doesn't carry any goodyear welted shoesRCSOB657 wrote:No idea what that meant, so I looked it up. I believe they are. Belvedere Bay Bridge (brown pair and black pair). Men's warehouse had a huge sale this past friday on a lot of stuff. One of those sales was half off shoes. I will grant you the two pairs I got were not the expensive offerings of the brand, but gotta start somewhere.buckiguy_sucks wrote:are they goodyear welted or whatRCSOB657 wrote:I just bought two pairs of Belvedere dress shoes. Well, it sure as hell isn't Blake stitching, and looks like welt stitching.
But hey, like I said. I didn't even know what that was until an hour ago.

Alas, another k-JD friend posts on Facebook attending an unranked private law school with a price over 200K. I wish it was easier to talk to people and warn them without sounding elitist. I've have several friends go to these schools in the last few years, only two have finished, none have jobs.

Re: Not the Sharpest 2L in the Shed
The best you can do is try to find a friendly way to point them to law school transparency early. I'm an LSAT teacher, so I've come up with a million ways to tell people to be careful.
For folks who've already received offers, I usually will say something like this:
"Congratulations on your law school offer! I didn't know that you were looking at law school -- very cool! I came across this website while I was thinking through things, and it was really helpful in helping me understand the costs and benefits of the schools I was applying to. I thought the job placement info was the most helpful. You should check it out!"
You can't really take the "don't do that" approach with most folks unless you're really close, but you can at least lead the horse to water.
Also: summer gigs -- how's it going, all? Report! I start up Tuesday.

SA is a wonderful job! I wish it was full time/long term.
Interesting work assignments: check.
Extremely bright and nice associates & partners: check.
Lunch every day with a partner & associate: check.
Social events, but not too many: check.
This is one week in, mind you, so I hope it holds up all summer.
DJM, military job?

I officially start tomorrow. Office works 10-6, but those are guidelines. I'll be working with the Georgian Young Lawyers Association here in Tbilisi.

JK it's about sex.
Also, this show is ridiculously stupid if you actually are in law school. Amazing how they've been taking the same class for 4 yrs
But I have to say I do love Viola's acting & the one thing that may be true are the classic "types" - neurotic, brat, hard-working minority, slut ..etc

You know none of those labels are mutually exclusive. I actually have two friends at school who are all of those things to some degree. Fuck, I'm all of those things to some degree.
Lol.
Btw, glad to see someone else from GA. Good luck when you start classes this fall.

quick question: after two years of law school, I am still having trouble having confidence in my writing including exam writing. does anyone have any recommendations of what I can do during the summer to improve my writing skills and my confidence in my writing skills?

Had to write a legal memo for the first time since 1L. Had to Google CIRAC to make sure I was doing it right. I'm going to fail at job.

It is really astounding to me how much my GPA has gone up this year and what a precipitous decline in effort put in.
Really strong evidence re: the random meaninglessness of law school grading

Re: 3L Thread: Someone come up with a good title
My effort went down and Fall grades proportionately went down.
Still haven't gotten Spring grades. I put in more effort than I did in the Fall but less than 1L, so we shall see if the correlation stands.
