If this switches over to the 3L thread, I won't be able to post for a bit. Still papering...(But, at least I'm papering at the beach.)Gray wrote:is this the 3L thread yet?

Wearing them everyday may have something to do with faster than normal wear but yeah a year seems quick. Do you live in NY/DC/public transit city and or otherwise do a lot of walking on concrete in them? That wears em down much faster than normalBVest wrote:They should last longer. I wear Cole Haan, which is generally thought of as a poor man's AE (but their last for certain shoes is a better shape for me). My shoes from the 90s lasted a decade and a half and I only replaced them because I outgrew them. I did get one dud pair from them recently, but even it lasted 3 years.Dr. Nefario wrote:How often do leather soles usually last? I've had AEs a little over a year now, wore them daily last summer, 1-2 times a week since, and now there's a hole in the cork under my big toe.
But from what I understand about AE, they'll fix it if they're that young (hell, I had a boot company do comp repairs on cowboy boots that were 8+ years old as a goodwill gesture). Email their customer service and tell them what happened and how disappointing it is to you and how you bought AE for their reputation.
Edit: I actually don't know if resting shoes a day between wears does anything for the sole v just for the uppers

Boston so yeah heavy walking city. Its about a half mile between apartment to station and a mile between station and office.buckiguy_sucks wrote:Wearing them everyday may have something to do with faster than normal wear but yeah a year seems quick. ETA: actually got in contact with AE and they can't find my order right now but it sounds like once they locate it, they may help

Re: Not the Sharpest 2L in the Shed
No idea what that meant, so I looked it up. I believe they are. Belvedere Bay Bridge (brown pair and black pair). Men's warehouse had a huge sale this past friday on a lot of stuff. One of those sales was half off shoes. I will grant you the two pairs I got were not the expensive offerings of the brand, but gotta start somewhere.buckiguy_sucks wrote:are they goodyear welted or whatRCSOB657 wrote:I just bought two pairs of Belvedere dress shoes.
