I have recently discovered that 48 hour take home exams are pretty much the worst type of exam ever. Actually looking forward to those 3 hour racehorse exams now. A semester is just barely long enough to forget how awful exams are.

I actually think take home exams work better for me because I'm a slow thinker/typer so the racehorse kills me.unsweetened wrote:I have recently discovered that 48 hour take home exams are pretty much the worst type of exam ever. I actually think 8 hr take homes are even worse. It's short enough where you feel hurried, but long enough to be more painful than a 4 hr racehorse.

I'm all about that racehorse. Take homes terrify me.

I have con law II in two days, and I didn't read or go to class, and the only old outlines I have are from 2013. Thankfully taking this pass/fail, but I currently probably don't know enough to pass, despite this being law school. Not sure how to remedy this situation.

I guarantee you pass. I'd rather have an outline than have attended class/read.Hand wrote:I have con law II in two days, and I didn't read or go to class, and the only old outlines I have are from 2013. Step 1: add every possible Scaliaism to a sheet of paperHikikomorist wrote:I guarantee you pass. Step 2: take said piece of paper to exam
Step 3: write every Scaliaism somewhere on your exam
Step 4: B+

I mean that requires that I have knowledge of Scaliaisms so that I can put them on a paperDr. Nefario wrote:Step 1: add every possible Scaliaism to a sheet of paperHikikomorist wrote:I guarantee you pass. I think you are vastly underestimating how little I know

Racehorse exams are infinitely better because the pain only lasts 3 (maybe 4) hours.

Same. Long take-homes are kinda awful/exhausting, but I get better grades on them because I don't get penalized for being such a slow writer.LoganCouture wrote:I actually think take home exams work better for me because I'm a slow thinker/typer so the racehorse kills me.unsweetened wrote:I have recently discovered that 48 hour take home exams are pretty much the worst type of exam ever. If only people wrote outlines that are useful for folks who didn't read. Instead they're just mangled garbage put in bullet point formHikikomorist wrote:I guarantee you pass. Hikko this must be a good time for you, with people starting to update their LinkedIn profile with their summer jobs. I hope you're compiling a spreadsheet

Re: Not the Sharpest 2L in the Shed
I'm just too damn slow for the 3 hour exams. I end up spending so much time on the first few questions and then word vomiting something garbled in 20 Minutes for the policy question. That said, infinitely worse than regular racehorse exams are word-limited racehorse exams.

I did not know this was a thing, but it sounds absurd. Almost as bad as extra credit in 1L curved classes.

lol I guess he does. But his 1L exam is not a racehorse. I'm a slowwwwwww exam taker and had about 40 minutes to go back and review everything.Hand wrote:does chuck not do this on his 1L examsusn26 wrote:I did not know this was a thing, but it sounds absurd. Re: Not the Sharpest 2L in the Shed
Ok... so fuck multiple choice exam portions.
I have so much angst right now. I walked into my T&E exam feeling pretty solid. It was the one class where I was done with my outline on time, studied plenty by myself, did a study group at the end, took old exams, even got a full night's sleep. When I opened the exam, I was pretty sure that I may have gone to the wrong class all semester. Ended up guessing on half of the multiple choice section. The essay wasn't horrible, but FML.
Tomorrow I have a four hour take home exam. Yes, you read that right. Take home race horse. It's going to be so fucking awesome. The only good part about it is that it's only 4 hours. Then I will have completed 3 of my 6 exams.
So what have we learned? Don't take a shitload of 2 hour credit classes taught by adjuncts.
