Nah. I got moved into my mew place and the law school here (UGA) is already running an early entry summer program.
i see. the summer program must be finishing up soon then? not that its any of my business lol. btw nice username/prof picture; i only drink black coffee
It just started today and ends the day before orientation. I guess it's nice to get an "easy" introduction on how to succeed in school and meet some of my classmates before actual class begins. Will probably begin drinking a lot more coffee again once that starts.
oh i see. i thought you might have been talking about a summer program where you actually take a class or two. yeah that sounds nice to meet your classmates and if anything youll feel more prepared to actually start classes

Was let go from my temp job a week early because I was "too productive" and they had no more work for me. What the fuck. I literally sat around for half the time doing shit all...

Well, an extra week of vacation before classes, I guess.

I'm not starting law school until next year, but I figured I'd check in anyway. The military makes you quit super far in advance to get your paperwork approved on time, so everyone has known I'm leaving for like six months already. My replacement has been here for a couple months, and my unit is way overstrength officers, so there is literally no work for me to do. I get to chill and draw a paycheck until January.

How common is the bolded for those in similar military positions, and how much time did you have to serve overall?

It's a little uncommon. My unit just went through a bunch of turmoil (toxic leadership and fraternization among the higher ups) so there was a lot of turnover. The new people wanted to keep me longer than normal because I could provide continuity and keep managing the stuff I was in charge of. Normally someone in my position would go to a staff job and chill, but my unit is so overstrength on officers that all of the made up positions are already taken by people who need the rating.

That being said, it's not uncommon for people to check out once they decide to get out. You normally can't get fired unless you do something illegal, so if you're not trying to get promoted then your work doesn't really matter.

I have about 3.5 years in now. I'll almost be at 4 when I leave.

im also in a long distance relationship, although ive never lived with my SO. i guess in a way it would be harder for you if youve already lived together. anyway, good luck to both of us (in terms of both relationship and law school)

Finally ending 2 years of long distance

It's not fun but I'm sure school will be distracting enough to help! :(

Hmm
Book lists -- check

Wondering -- snag a notepad / iPad and soft copy versions for day to day classes instead of the full notebook experience, notebook for exams. I'm sure this still gets debated on TLS, but ITT with orientation already happened or in a matter of hours, what did you decide
