Unfortunately, substantial need aid is unlikely anywhere outside of HYS.

Thanks! Yeah just got in the past few days and will be attending! I have been reading the past few pages but where is everyone living and/or places to go/avoid? It's slightly harder trying to find a place this close to the start.

Congrats to all the recent admits and commits.

Basketball is fairly straightforward, but has anyone figured out how student tickets for football works? I can't seem to find anything explicit.

Also, life in Durham has been excellent so far. I'm about a month in and loving it. Daily dogwalks through Duke Forest, excellent late-night milkshakes at Cookout, and a very cool atmosphere altogether. It actually reminds me a lot of Austin without the tie-dyed hair and facial piercings.

Rising 3L here...welcome! There are no tickets to football. You just show up and your Duke ID gets you in. There is usually free food before the game and most of the games I went to last year had a student promotion with free tshirts

Speaking of basketball tickets. (He won't arrive until 2016, but still)

Here's hoping the package deal with Giles happens.

Outstanding, thanks! Coming from a school where getting football tickets required a pistol and a ski-mask, the idea of getting easy entrance is awesome.

On a different note, I noticed in the C/O 2017 thread that their briefing assignment was due around this time last year. Anyone have any notion as to why we haven't even seen the assignment yet?

Maybe it'll be posted closer to orientation? I think I remember reading something about us getting instructions on how to brief during lead week

Anyone have any opinions on internet selection in Durham? Looking at TWC and I know it has a rather unpleasant reputation online but hoping for some personal anecdotes here. Would be using for streaming/gaming

I went with TWC 100Mb/s plan mostly bc I don't have cable and didn't want to have any issues streaming, etc. even during peak times. Sometimes I'm looking at 50 Mb/s during peak times (admittedly part of this could be my router, which is shitty), but ultimately that's adequate. I think we pay $70/mo total split between my roommate and me.

TWC fucking blows, but you don't realistically have many options. I think it's just that or Frontier, until Google Fiber is up and running.

Thanks for the responses. I guess I'll look into TWC again and suck it up.

The Google Fiber offer is really interesting though, I couldn't find any more info online about an estimated availability date

Probably not until at least early 2016. I just learned that AT&T is also installing a fiber network in Durham that may be ready by the end of this year, though who knows if it'll be throughout Durham or only in certain areas at that point.

Is anyone having issues getting a parking permit? I just tried logging on and neither choice appeared for blue or green.

Just bought my parking permit, did not have any issues, just the system was slow.

If I don't see an option for Green does that mean they're all gone? :(

I refreshed the page exactly at 12pm and within 2 minutes BZ Commuter and Green passes showed up.
