In off the WL earlier this summer and checking in for Section 2. I'll be living a few miles east of campus off MLK and am open to carpooling if anyone is also in that area. Excited to meet everyone in a few days!

Right, right. The ol' Thursday, Friday, Monday schedule. If anyone wants to know what's worth going go, I'm your man. I went to everything. I only somewhat regret it.

I'm curious about the optional weekend activities. It seems like they're just days where different organizations have events.

I went to nothing that did not involve free drinks, other than the first orientation day thing. I went to everything that involved free drinks. I would advise doing the same.

Should've asked this earlier, but anyone receive their tuition email? It says it's due 5PM Aug. 31st, and we should have gotten an email by July 21st. I never got anything though.

I don't think I've gotten either e-mail, but I've been kept informed via the CASH page.
Does it list your tuition there? Mine doesn't list my tuition or my scholly.

Check out the "My History" tab on the left margin. Then click to view your previous notifications and click on the date submitted, assuming it's there for you. Like I said, I don't ever recall receiving an e-mail, but it shows up for me on the site.
Weird how it doesn't show up for me. Says I'm not registered, so I don't have a bill on file. Guess I'll just have to wait until they register me.

Yeah, about that... apparently I was misinformed.
What makes you say that? I got an email that mentioned final schedules release on Thursday too.

People in the FB group are getting theirs.
What a day. Oh well, I'm sure we'll get an email soon enough too. At this point, what's another day if not today? haha

Edit: Go to UTDirect, then Current Class Schedule. It's on there.

Make sure you've cleared any holds you might have on your student account. They just sent out a mass email that they've been having trouble registering people due to holds. I had a hold for not adding Emergency Contact information.

What's the best way to buy a casual bike? On craiglist it seems you can find stuff between $50 and $100 but I honestly have no idea what I'm doing.

I had success at the austin bike farm. The guy I talked to was very helpful. let me cruise around on like ten bikes before I found one I loved. Its probably not gunna be as cheap as craiglist, but they give you a year of free maintenance. I've bought bikes on craiglist and they can be really hit or miss imo. At the very least, the bike farm would be a good place to go to see what you are looking for in a bike.

So, adding up expected book expenditures for the Fall semester, I am just over $1,000, excluding supplements and supplies. This is way more than the $1,294 UT estimates for the entire year. I will be expecting to pay closer to 2k for the entire year. I know this isn't really the law school's fault, but screw the college textbook racquet in this country. I know this is nothing new, but it's really sad. Government-subsidized University textbooks in Germany run about 100 Euro per semester.

Are you buying new or used books? You can save a lot of money by buying used, if you're willing to take a chance on a marked up casebook. Or you can go to the Coop and flip through some used books before you buy them. I spent like 3x the amount on books for first semester as compared to second semester because I went from almost all new books to Amazon rentals.

Try Amazon, and look for the Amazon fulfillment deals. I got one book new for 50% of the cost of a new one on the COOP without needing to pay for S&H or sales tax. Used books run pretty cheap on there too.
