The level of awesomeness that you earned with this post is over 9,000.

So I understand this correctly, this indicates that different sections may take the same classes during different semesters, right? For example, we're all going to take LRW in the first semester of 1L, but one section may take Con Law in the Fall and Crim in the Spring, while the next section has it the opposite way around?
Yes

Yes, but you're all going to take LRW both semesters.

Sorry to bring this thread back after so long, but I just got in off the WL (woo!). Was wondering if any one knows how long it took to get the LOI after the seat deposit was paid? Thanks y'all, and Hook 'Em!

Congrats!

I got accepted in May, and they sent me the LOI a couple weeks later in June I think. They'll email you though, so don't worry too much about missing it.

PSA I think the priority deadline for football tickets are tomorrow. There is already a law school seating group up and going in the fb page. I'd call the ticket office to get it done asap if you just got admitted and want to be sure to get in the seating group at the games

Speaking of football, anyone planning on doing fantasy? Fair warning, I've never failed to make it to the finals. 8)

I didn't do it during LS, but IIRC from my previous tour, the tickets you get for football require that you show your student ID. Thus your opportunity for profit only comes from students who failed to buy the big ticket. So, not easy, and well nigh impossible.

Anybody else get the Jumpstart newsletter that included information on the Declaration of Intent to Study Law in Texas? May be way ahead of myself seeing as how I haven't even started school yet, but I would like to avoid paying $340 if I'm supposed to be filing this now instead of later...

The deadline (to avoid late charge) is Oct 1 of 1L, so you have some time. Take a look at it (www.ble.state.tx.us) and start gathering any information that looks like it might be hard to come by. UT will hire someone to do fingerprints on campus, so you can sign up for a time to do that when they send an email out.

Ok, cool. Could I still wait until my 3L year to do it without penalty of a late fee (planning on sitting for the July 2018 exam)?

No. Oct. 1 of your 1L. Anything after that you'll have to pay the late fee when you either (a) file your declaration or (b) submit your application to take the bar without having previously filed your declaration. (ETA: They don't call it a late fee with option b, but you have to use the general application rather than the in-state application, and the economic result is the same).

ETA 2: I think the late fee is only $150. The other $190 is the fee for timely submitting your declaration.

Ah, alright. How long does the whole process take after you submit the form/application? (Sorry for asking all these questions.)

I think I heard back from the bar that they'd completed my declaration investigation in May or June of/after 1L.

Generally as one component of an exam, but yes. It varies by prof, and you can't pick your prof or your classes, so it doesn't really matter.

Out of my 6 finals during 1L only 1/3 of one exam was MC. But then you have someone like BigZuck who took 7 MC exams out of 6 finals (or something similarly crazy/impossible). It varies by the professor, but expect to see at least a bit of MC. Once you get your section and professors you'll find out how they'll test you.

Yeah I had MC as a component on 4/6 of my finals 1L year

Idk if you're asking because you see multiple choice as a good thing, because it's terrible. Objectively speaking.

My typing speed is abysmal, so I have somewhat greater faith in my ability to perform on MC exams by default.
I'm faster at them, but LS MC exams are the worst.
