I could be game for this. I have one of the financial aid sessions scheduled for lunch-time-ish, but I could happily reschedule/cancel it. I've been to college a few times. I can't imagine they have anything truly groundbreaking to say.

I really, really want to make a visit for ASD happen, but even with the $200 travel stipend they're offering me - the flight is almost $400 and it looks like hotel prices in Austin are through the roof, not to mention I'd have to figure out transportation between airport/hotel/law school! Man, it's hard when you're broke and too far away to drive.

This place was on seriouseats as one of the best places to eat around UT. It is a 10 minute walk from the Law School (I'm guessing that's where the Segway tours would start from?)

I would go after! I really only remember Moonshine from downtown though and I have no idea how close it is to UT...MtnGinger wrote:Anyone doing the 12pm Segway your that also wants to do lunch we could all go afterwards if anyone has a favorite place or suggestion.

Could I suggest a poll (maybe closer to the actual event) asking if people will attend the lunch before or after the segway tour? that way we can get a headcount, call a couple days before and get a big table put together?

Is there a reason you guys are doing the noon tour instead of 2?
I think you can change your pick. But, I'm figuring you guys are trying to hit the law school only tour. We should all have a something to signal that we're TLS'ers lol. Like an armband or something.

Oops, I'm on the 2 tour. Figured 2 is better to leave plenty of time for lunch.bizzy531 wrote:I'm also doing the noon Segway tour! Definitely be down to meet up.ChemEng1642 wrote:I would go after! I'm an undergrad in the ATX area, so MAY (hopefully not) have to get back to campus by 330 for a class. Noon means I can do the tour regardless.IsThisForReal wrote:Is there a reason you guys are doing the noon tour instead of 2?

I'm staying with my SO that weekend and ideally I'd like to get back before he gets home from work (earlier segway tour = earlier other tour = home earlier - ALL THAT TRAFFIC PROBABLY )IsThisForReal wrote:Is there a reason you guys are doing the noon tour instead of 2?

Re: Texas Class of 2018
Meh. I live a block away from Crown & Anchor and frequent it, but I would say it's average to above-average bar food; it's definitely not a "can't miss" place. Posse East has better food IMO, but still isn't anything to go out of your way for. I
f you want somewhere close walking distance, Red River Cafe might be better, or if you want good sandwiches, Snarfs is right across the road.
I think you'd enjoy your time more by taking the bus/walking over to the drag, or, alternatively, El Chile and El Sapo are in walking distance across 35 (and are great). It's sad, but there's nowhere in immediate walking distance of the LS that has really good food. (however -- I have not tried the ethiopian place yet but have been meaning to; it's supposed to be quite good)

For the record, the Ethiopian place off of 35 is close to the law school and really good!
Any Austin-area admits going to one of the breakfasts with Dean Farnsworth?

I'd second this. Crown is more a pub than food, I'd go to RRC or Posse, but I still can't understand the enjoyment of Snarf's.zombie mcavoy wrote:Meh. Also, protip: skip the campus tour, just do the LS tour.

We could all do this and then explore campus on our own after. I'll probably be touring the business school in the morning.Attax wrote: Also, protip: skip the campus tour, just do the LS tour

So it would probably be better to do the 12:00 segway tour and 3:00 law school tour, rather than going on the 4:30 law school + campus tour?Attax wrote:

Re: Texas Class of 2018
That sounds like a great idea! I'm planning on leaving up the existing poll for about another 2 weeks, but I'll put up a tour/lunch poll at least a week before ASW!BrazilBandit wrote:Could I suggest a poll (maybe closer to the actual event) asking if people will attend the lunch before or after the segway tour? that way we can get a headcount, call a couple days before and get a big table put together?
