Re: Texas Class of 2018
I buy used from the coop (go there now before its all super picked over), or rent from Amazon, or buy used from Amazon if it says something like "Like new" or "minimal highlighting" and the seller has good ratings. I've never been burned too hard doing that.
Just say No to buying new law books if you can help it. We don't need to line the pockets of those FAT CATS any more than they are already fatly lined.
I'm heading over to the coop in a few minutes, will report back on the general state of used 1L books

If we already ordered books (used ones) from the COOP, is it safe to say they'll be put on hold for us?BigZuck wrote:I buy used from the coop (go there now before its all super picked over), or rent from Amazon, or buy used from Amazon if it says something like "Like new" or "minimal highlighting" and the seller has good ratings. Alright, sweet. I'm not looking forward to showing up and having them hit me with a bill for new books cause all the used ones were already sold.BigZuck wrote:I've never ordered used online, I've just walked in to buy. If you want to save on supplements there's a room in the library with basically every supplement you'll need. Many have been donated by professors (especially Silver for CivPro had some), so you can see what they used and any highlighting or notes they may have left in them.

Went to the Co-op store today and lucked out with used books that are untouched. If you are in the area, it's probably worth it to swing by.

Not to rain on your parade, but this is probably one of the most useless things you can do before 1L. Wait until you get your class schedules and mentor's or upperclassmen friends' advice and tips on outlining. Otherwise, enjoy the time before it all starts!mornincounselor wrote:Hey y'all!
I hope finals is going well for everyone. I'm an incoming 1L and if anyone is willing to share their outlines (now before you start a massive celebratory fire with all remnants of 1L) please feel free to email me at : mornincounselor @ gmail.com
Thanks a lot & see ya soon,

Also, you'll get put into a group of 15 and assigned a 2L mentor who will put together a panel of students who have taken your professors. Our mentor also put together an outline bank with about 3-4 outlines per class. So I'd definitely wait till school starts and enjoy your summer!rnoodles wrote:Not to rain on your parade, but this is probably one of the most useless things you can do before 1L.
