In a similar situation, I've only been a couple of times. I'm trying to decide whether to stay at my uncle's in brookline or rent a room for the weekend...Is anyone planning on going out friday/saturday night?crayNow wrote:I'm coming to the Feb ASW and I'm planning on leaving Sunday. I've never been to Boston before so I figure I better look around a little before I move there for the next three years.
What about everyone else?

Oh well, I'll likely be making the March one then.crayNow wrote:Hey Mike,mike0331 wrote:The February workshop is the 20th and not the 21st, that's not a typo?

That isn't a typo, the Feb ASW is on Friday the 20th and the March ASW is on Saturday the 21st.

Winter is a crappy time in New England... especially with this constant barrage of snow. I'm not a city person at all, but as far as cities go I think Boston's up there. Very rich history, and not too crazy for a big city. It's also very clean, and relatively easy to get in and out of. Also, Boston College is not in Boston, it's in the suburb of Newton, about a 10 minute drive from downtown (no traffic) or 25 or so minute "T" train ride. For an awesome breakfast I recommend Johnnys in Newton Center on Langley Ave (about 2 minutes by car from BC). I haven't been in a few years but Union Street bar and grill in Newton Center has good food and generous servings. I grew up in the area.

Admitted student checking in. Does anybody know when to expect scholarship information and/or if they will offer travel reimbursement to visit?

They mentioned at the ASW Friday that scholarship info would be coming out in the next week or two.

Does BC offer travel assistance for ASD?

I didn't ask when I was there, I'm sure you could call and check. I definitely enjoyed the ASD. It was a sales pitch, as I'm sure all of them are, but it was cool to sit in on a class, meet with professors, talk to other students, etc. The campus/buildings are also really nice so that was good to see as well.
The one underlying thing I noticed is the students generally seem to be happy there, though of course there is selection bias from those who met with us.

Hey guys, you might want to check your spam folder. BC sent out their merit scholarship package to me yesterday, but it went straight to spam. As I've seen almost no people post their results on LSN, or mention it on here or elsewhere, I'm thinking not everyone checked their spam folder.

Can someone give a rundown of the schedule of the February ASW? I'm trying to plan my visit accordingly.

I like BC a lot but I was accepted in early January and have yet to get scholarship info and BU sent their offer with my acceptance packet. Anyone know when they'll start sending out money? At this point, money is my main factor in where I'll be come the fall.

BU and BC gave me the same amount of money. do you think there is anyway to play them against each other?
GW also gave me the same amount and would be a lower COL because I could commute from home but that did not cause BU to raise my offer.
if i double deposited at BU and BC do you think my scholly would increase?
or is BC/BU and GW a better double deposit?
ideally i want to end up in boston but with more scholly money
thanks in advance!
