New Manhattan LSAT Books (4th ed)!! BOOK WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

Post by Christine (MLSAT) » Mon Mar 24, 2014 3:20 pm

Goooooooood morning TLS! Or afternoon, whatevs. Anywho - we wanted to let folks know that our 4th ed. books are finally out! Your long, anxious wait is over at last!

So, here's the break-down:
  • 1) RC got a lot of love. There are a ton more drills (some really innovative stuff, IMHO) and lots more practice sets. It is well more than 20% cooler.

    2) LG and LR got a polish - typos, clarifications, etc.

    3) A totally new thing! 10 Real LSATs Grouped by Question Type. This book is one of our classroom course HW books, and it contains PrepTests 41-50, but arranged in practice sets by question type. Bestest part? Full explanations for each question!
Since folks are about to ask--do not go and buy the new LG and LR books if you have the 3rd edition--the changes are not worth it. The RC is a totally different ballgame, as it did get some serious reality-show makeover style attention (i.e. page count went from 171 to 282).

And now <clap clap> A GAME! I've been given a few review copies of the new RC book and the new 10 Real LSATs Grouped by Question Type to give out.To make things more fun (FUNNER!!), let's go with a haiku competition. Our office will choose the best 6 haikus about LSAT RC. Here's what you have to do:
  • 1) create an account on our site at: https://www.manhattanlsat.com/createaccount.cfm
    2) write a seriously awesome haiku and post it here for all to see! (Okay, if you are painfully shy, you can just PM it to me, but I reserve the right to tease you.)
    3) Solemnly pinky-swear that you will give some public feedback on the book, right here in this thread, after you receive it!
We'll review all the haikus submitted and I'll announce the winners here next Monday, March 31! Deadline for submission is noon (ET) that day!

Here's mine:

No comprehension
My brain transformed to just a
riddled word-basin

- Christine

P.S. Mods, I'm still learning the TLS ropes as a company rep -- just let me know if I should edit this thread in any way!

Looks like I waited too long to sell my 3rd edition books.

Edit: I think traditional haiku is 5-7-5, not 5-7-7.

I'm Google-averse today and no haiku expert. But according to PT... 40, I think, English language poets call any three-line poem with a haiku feel a haiku, because we disrespect other cultures. Christine is well within her rights.

Oh noes! There goes that exhaustion, drat! Edited above to fix!

Well, I guess I'm not winning this contest, am I?

I just sold mine, looks like it was good timing. Looking forward to hearing about what folks have to say about the 4th Edition, I hope its as big of a jump as the 3rd was. :D

Convoluted words!
And time, combined, cuts like swords!
I shall defeat you!

Why doesn't the poor RC section get more attention in preparations leading to test day? It doesn't get much play on its big day either. :/ Poor RC. Lolz

No haiku here, just wondering:

*If/when the Kindle versions of the new guides are coming out,
*If/when the Kindle version of the 10 Real LSAT book is coming out (I see that the physical book is coming out in April)

Thanks!

RC RC
How could you do this to me?
We've talked and we've walked
we've had such a blast
but last saturday, you stuck it up my ass
I ask for some sympathy and some hope for my future
but if this happens again,
I'm going to have to seduce your sister

Drinking a beer wondering when I'm gonna understand this shit
Eating a corndog cause I'm lazy
Oh RC, have you made me this crazy?
Please take a gun and put it your head
and tell your friend LG to suck on my head
I'm tired of you guys' cramping my style
Just give me a 180 and I'll be dead for while

Can't get out of Bed to drill RC
RC, why don't you come in bed with me?
I've drank too much coffee, and spilled too much beer
I've slapped my dog and yelled at my girlfriend
My bills are not paid and my toilet's a cesspool
Oh RC, why do you do this to me?
