Anyone Take the FL Single Day Bar Exam?

Post by SowhatsNU » Wed Apr 17, 2019 8:13 am

Hi Everyone,

I’m currently barred in NY, and read that if you sit for the FL bar within two years of the date you sat for a different bar (and passed) you only have to take the FL section and your UBE scores will transfer.

Has anyone done this? What was the process like? Any info you could provide would be quite helpful.

Thanks!

Aside from what's available on the Bar web site, you could benefit from the Florida thread. The grades are coming in right now, and people are discussing in detail how the Florida part of the test is graded and scaled. It's exactly what you need. http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 1&t=248152

Here is all of the relevant information:

In short, yes, this is allowable but you'll need to have scored at least a 136 scaled on the MBE and it needs to be within 25 months of when you pass part A of the Florida exam. Could definitely be a good move for many with the one caveat that I've seen it mentioned in a few different places that statistically it is slightly easier to pass the exam when taking both parts due to averaging of scores.

I took the FL only section. I was working at the time and only had two weeks to study. I did well on MBE, so it was a risky decision, but it worked out in the end.

Thanks! How’d you study? Did you take off two weeks and cram before the exam? I’m thinking I’d have about two-three months and was hoping 2-3 hours would be okay.

I didn’t cram as much as I should have during my two weeks off. I did 5-6 hours a day during those two weeks. I mainly focused on the areas where FL law differs greatly from federal law.

However, I did watch all the videos for all of the sections being covered.

Which videos? Did you use barbri?

I used a mix of Barbri and Themis. I watched the videos and just reviewed the condensed outlines.

I watched all of the videos besides federal civ pro I think.
