Question re: NJ admission letter

Post by Cop2lawyerNYC » Fri Jan 04, 2019 2:47 pm

Hey all. Got my admission letter for NJ. I was sworn in by a local attorney, atty roll was signed and I mailed everything out overnight.
Am I officially sworn in as of the date I took the oath? Or do I still have to wait for NJ to acknowledge that they got the forms?

Thanks

I think you have to wait for New Jersey to put you on the roll. Your name should appear on the attorney index (with your bar number) sometime next week (assuming you mailed it this week). From there you can request a letter of good standing.

NJ attorney here. You're officially sworn in on the date you took your oath.
