Resources for MBE practice?
All I have are Barbri materials and Adaptibar. Barbri has sets for each subject but I took a bar related class during the semester and the professor used those questions. Since I know all the answers, practicing with those is pretty useless. I know Adaptibar has a ton of questions but that's considering all subjects combined. Individually Adaptibar has only about 200-300 questions per subject.
I've done only 60 questions for evidence but since i'm averaging at about 55%, I need more practice. I'm trying not to use all the questions for one subject so I'd like to know what other sources, if any, I could use for practice.

There are two excellent books with similar titles:
Strategies and Tactics for the MBE (6th edition)
and
Strategies and Tactics for the Finz Multistate Method (4th edition)
--Sean (Silverman Bar Exam Tutoring

I think it's fine to redo those questions and approach them as you would looking at them for the first time. You don't really need to do thousands of questions to do well, if you study the explanations for each question to make sure you really "get" it (just because you're correct doesn't mean you're right).xonimi wrote:All I have are Barbri materials and Adaptibar. Further, you have Barbri materials. If you're worried about running out of questions or knowing the AdaptiBar questions too well, practice on Barbri first, then come back to AdaptiBar.
Emanuel's S&T is indeed excellent for answer explanations, but the questions will overlap with AdaptiBar questions. Both use licensed questions. The only differences would be the author-written Civ Pro question in S&T and AdaptiBar.

1) Ditch Adaptibar and Barbri (continue to use Barbri for the essays)xonimi wrote:All I have are Barbri materials and Adaptibar. 2)
BEFORE DOING THE MBE'S, READ THE FOLLOWING BOOKS VERY CAREFULLY:
https://www.amazon.com/MBE-Bootcamp-Con ... e+bootcamp
https://www.amazon.com/MBE-Bootcamp-Tor ... e+bootcamp
https://www.amazon.com/MBE-Bootcamp-Evi ... e+bootcamp
https://www.amazon.com/MBE-Bootcamp-Cri ... e+bootcamp
https://www.amazon.com/MBE-Bootcamp-Pro ... e+bootcamp
https://www.amazon.com/MBE-Bootcamp-Con ... e+bootcamp
Once you've mastered the strategies, warm up with Strategies and Tactics, which is slightly easier than the actual bar:
https://www.amazon.com/Strategies-Tacti ... or+the+mbe
Once you've gone through every problem in Strategies and Tactics (and reviewed every question you got wrong), move on to the tougher material that reflects what's on the MBE:

Re: Resources for MBE practice?
I'm going to second this advice with a few extra tips. First, it's ok to memorize the questions - when I went through adaptibar, I was surprised at how many questions I didn't remember and even the ones that I did, the fact that I still got them wrong. Second, I would caution anyone against buying too many supplements as some way to ensure that they are working hard. It won't help. Pick one or two tools and use them over and over. Don't look to buy aids as a method of ensuring you're doing all you can. You are not.a male human wrote:I think it's fine to redo those questions and approach them as you would looking at them for the first time. Agreed. If you really "get" the material, you should be getting 100% of the questions you redo. You probably won't. If you do, even better since you'll see similar questions on the MBE.LockBox wrote:I'm going to second this advice with a few extra tips. If you do want more questions, though, here's a needlessly exhaustive compilation of sources of MBE questions (Civ Pro in particular).

Re: Resources for MBE practice?
NBCE has practice exams but be aware that if you have adaptibar, some may be repeats. I took 1-2 and I recognized about 10-15% of each set.

Re: Resources for MBE practice?
My running list of MBE supplements:
1) Emanuel's Strategies and Tactics for the MBE - available on Amazon. Fairly cheap book. Has good tips on approaching the MBE and contains lots of practice questions.
2) Adaptibar (http://www.adaptibar.com) - I didn't use this, but wish I had since it has received raving reviews. The only con to Adaptibar is the price.
3) Barmax MBE Questions (https://getbarmax.com/barmax-mbe-questions/ - supposedly "comparable" to Adaptibar). At only $249, it's a good price, but Adaptibar has tracking tools to individualize your MBE study and show your progress in a method that Barmax can't. But Barmax seems to be more economical than Adaptibar. You also need an iOS device to use it.
4) OPE from the MBE site to practice the most recent test questions: http://store.ncbex.org/all-online-practice-exams/. OPE it isn't the cheapest option, but these are real, recent MBE questions and not the souped up Barbri ones. Barbri questions are not representative of the modern MBE. I hear Barmax has all these OPEs included.
5) Critical Pass (http://criticalpass.refr.cc/L2L68Z5 - referral link contains a discount code for $$ off) - Great flashcards for the MBE! You can't apply the law to an MBE question, if you don't know the law. I used Critical Pass for my bar study along with the CMR from Barbri and their simulated questions (although the Barbri questions are very different than actual MBE questions). I also used Emanuel's S&T during my study period, but not as much as I should have since it's a great resource.
