Thought it would be good to create a new thread for this cycle since scores are starting to come out..

Just state your Barbri midterm raw score and refresher vs. your actual scaled score.

Barbri Midterm: 100/200 ( yeah, I know!!)

What was your studying strategy?

I had only completed 4 subjects (Civil Procedure, Contracts, Con Law and Torts) when I took the midterm so I got 70%+ correct in those subjects and 20%-40% correct in all the others (Criminal Law and Procedure, Evidence and Property). I really wasn't prepared to take the midterm, I was literally guessing for Criminal Law and Procedure, Evidence and Property! However, I was prepared to take the Refresher and the bar exam!!

Barbri Midterm: 128/200
Refresher: 74/100
MBE Score: 160.6

I never felt completely comfortable with the MBE practice questions nor the actual MBE questions. I only felt comfortable that my practice scores would translate and they did.

Actual - 158.8 (written 155).

I got SCARED by my midterm and then studied 12 hours a day for last 4 weeks. I was getting 55% on MBE and ended up at about 70-75% on practice. I recommend after each MBE question you get wrong, write out the rule and reasoning of why it was wrong. At end of day, spend an hour going over each of the rules you got wrong so you don't mess up again!

Just got results back from the Texas bar. I am a first time taker.

Actual MBE: 166.2

I received very similar scores on the midterm and the exam same on the refresher. What did you do between the refresher and actual exam to bring your score up so much?

I did every single question I can get my hand on. I think all in all, I did close to 3,000 MBE questions. What I found was the most helpful was that I got the two MBE books by Emanuel and did those after I was done with Barbri. I didn’t really bother reading the substance of those books, just for the additional MBE questions. In particular, I found the books helpful because all Barbri’s questions felt similar after a while. Emanuel‘s questions were phrased differently from Barbri’s questions if I remember correctly.

I'm just praying for at least a 150. Does that seem viable?

What did you do to increase your score from the initial Barbri midterm?

I either really over performed on the midterm and the refresher or I became too accustomed to Barbri type questions. I also did Emanuel's questions where I was scoring between 62-64% which is consistent with my MBE score - I just got a smaller bump than most people. I was still slightly above the national average.

Passed Texas!

Used Barbri all the way! Nothing else. Completed around 83%...honestly don't feel 100% is humanly possible if you follow it to the tees..

Barbri Simulated Exam - 120/200 - BUT Blew away in timing (first session blew time by 20 mins and second session by 5 or 8 mins).
Barbri Final/Refresher - only did 50 questions the night before...don't do that! it's very misleading...I think I only got like 23 correct and almost puked.
Actual MBE Scaled - 147.6

PS. I am a foreign educated attorney and this was my second attempt (first was Feb2016). Left the MBE without any clues as to how I did (just certain that I guessed A LOT after narrowing to two answer choices) and used ALL the time allowed to the last seconds.
