Considering MBEs are scored independently, is there any way to find out your MBE score before the official pass/fail decisions are released?

Which MBE are you talking about? The one everyone just took in Feb or some older MBE?L_William_W wrote:1) Adaptibar is shit
2) I got a 149.3 MBE (albeit, on the 6th time I took the bar exam- three in NJ, three in NY. I passed each on the 3rd attempt). I finished at the bottom of my class and nearly got academically dismissed. I struggled through civ pro, though torts and con law were a breeze. The bar exam is curved. Unless you completely froze and fucked up, you'll be fine.

Not that I'm aware of. I wish, that would at least calm some of the stress. Lol

I'm not sure but I don't think so.

Yeah looks like MBE are released when the state releases the results.pfunkera wrote:nope, if there was a way I would have my score. I just completed the survey so that I would not get them again. That survey gives me anxiety. I really hope we all pass. The waiting is killing me.

Slightly different question - would there be a way to learn whether the curve was more or less forgiving as results start to trickle in from different states? I'm not sure how other states report their results, but some mathy people might be able to figure something out, right?RCinDNA wrote:No, not that I am aware of.dreamofNYC wrote:Considering MBEs are scored independently, is there any way to find out your MBE score before the official pass/fail decisions are released?

Re: MBE February 2018 Reactions..
I think there is a way to do so but you would need a larger sample size than that which exists on these boards. I am also not sure of the methodology used by the NCBE - I hear that higher scorers benefit less from the curve generated by the adjustment process while lower scorers benefit more but not sure how you would calculate that since some states only release MBEs if you fail or apply to another state.chicoalto0649 wrote:Slightly different question - would there be a way to learn whether the curve was more or less forgiving as results start to trickle in from different states? Feb 2018 NC results expected around the 28th. The wait is killing me.

I found a thread on here where someone tracked all the results as they came in. Gave me an idea of where I wanted to be in my studying.chicoalto0649 wrote:Slightly different question - would there be a way to learn whether the curve was more or less forgiving as results start to trickle in from different states? Re: MBE February 2018 Reactions..
So are the MBEs released on the same day the state releases the pass/fail decisions? In NC the results are sent out by the mail, which means 2 day delay in getting the letter in the mail. So I wonder if in the meantime I can check the MBE results by accessing my NCBE account?RCinDNA wrote:No, not that I am aware of.dreamofNYC wrote:Considering MBEs are scored independently, is there any way to find out your MBE score before the official pass/fail decisions are released?

NY Ba examiners send a survey prior to releasing the results. It is optional not mandatory, but if you don't fill it out they keep on e-mailing you the survey.dreamofNYC wrote:What survey?Barexamny22 wrote:I just completed the survey

Re: MBE February 2018 Reactions..
Did you take the survey? Do you think it has any actual bearing on your score if you decide to take it or not? I wish there was a way to find out early, even if it was just the MBE score. NY will certainly wait until May.Barexamny22 wrote:NY Ba examiners send a survey prior to releasing the results. Anyone think the survey is a good or bad sign? Does it matter if you completely ignore it? There has to be a better way to at least get MBE scores out there before the final release of P/F by the state. If not, they should consider charging a fee for expedition scores.

They ask: what bar prep course did you use? how many hours a week did you study? how much did you pay for your bar prep course? and so on....just get it over and done with otherwise you will keep getting a email from the bar examiners every week until the results come out.RCinDNA wrote:What do they ask you in this survey?

My state does not care about that. I never got a survey from them.Barexamny22 wrote:They ask: what bar prep course did you use? how many hours a week did you study? how much did you pay for your bar prep course? and so on....just get it over and done with otherwise you will keep getting a email from the bar examiners every week until the results come out.RCinDNA wrote:What do they ask you in this survey?

Re: MBE February 2018 Reactions..
I took the NY Bar exam in July 2014 and July 2017. The July 2014 exam was a nightmare. It was almost as if the exam was in German. I wouldn't go as far as calling the July 2017 exam a cakewalk, but it was MUCH easier than the July 2014 exam (granted, I was better prepared in 2017 and I was having health problems in 2014). They dumbed down the NY bar since so many people were failing. I don't remember getting these surveys in 2014.
Again, I had shitty grades in law school and got a 149.3 MBE in July 2017. I felt like I totally fucked up in civ pro and was very surprised at my MBE score.

Re: MBE February 2018 Reactions..
As of today, two states have posted Feb 2018 results on their websites:
Oklahoma with a pass rate of 63%. (Lowest pass rate in last 2.5 years from what I saw, which had previously ranged from 68% to 81%.)
West Virginia with a pass rate of 57%. (Limited info avail on WV prior pass rates, but it appears that WV prior pass rates have been in the low 60s to low 70s.) Looks like it could be a blood bath.
