Michigan July 2017 Bar exam
Anyone have any thoughts about the most recent Michigan bar exam? The domestic relations and evidence question were a bit tricky, but everything else was pretty standard as far as I could tell.

Equity really came out of left field. Secured transactions question was a little tricky. The rest I thought was very easy/fair.

Re: Michigan July 2017 Bar exam
I'm sure everyone had certain topics/subtopics that were tougher for them. But on the whole, I thought it was significantly more fair than the February 2017 exam seemed.
Equity is not a commonly tested topic but when they do test it they ask for the exact same preliminary injunction factors/analysis so that seemed pretty straightforward. The Evidence essay was ridiculously long (four sub-issues and a page and a half question), I thought, but balanced out by the relatively quick personal property and crim law essays. I thought Contracts was a bit tough too on the "covenant" issue.

Re: Michigan July 2017 Bar exam
We were happy to see that the exam more or less went back to "standard" questions. It appears to be a trend that certain questions (evidence) are consistently very long (i.e. asks multiple questions with long fact patterns). For those that studied past questions regularly, equity should've been a relief (or at least not terrible). We are interested to see what the results yield after this administration in comparison to February's.

I bet the Michigan board of law examiners have the sense of humor to release results tomorrow, Friday the
13th.
13th.

They only post the passing seat numbers rather than posting EVERY seat number and either pass/fail next to the name.

"Below is a list of those applicants...who received a passing score." Reading fail, lol. Figured there was a simple explanation since they were skipping seat numbers. Adding "pass" next to the seat number rather than just posting the number threw me off.ndbigdave wrote: They only post the passing seat numbers rather than posting EVERY seat number and either pass/fail next to the name.
The Florida page has ruined me. I was frantically searching for the word "fail" to be somewhere on the page.
But congrats to all of the new (soon-to-be) Michigan lawyers!

Were seat numbers in alphabetical order? I lost my seat number because I'm an idiot, but I knew the girl sitting directly next to me and her name starts with the same letter as mine. I'm freaking out because I'm PRETTY sure I was a particular number, but the other number that I'm afraid might be mine didn't pass.

I believe they were and started from the right side of the room in alphabetical order.ohchiyo wrote:Were seat numbers in alphabetical order? Congrats to those who passed. I passed as well and just called my family to share the good news.

Check your materials for your seat number, otherwise you will receive hard copy results in a day or two (depending on where you live).ohchiyo wrote:Well, I should be right about my number, if that's true, and I'm thinking maybe I passed(!!????)
I had my seat number burned into my brain, but I also took the actual seat number card with me (from a few years back) and went and got it from my car the day the results came out just to be 100% certain. Results came in mail I believe 2 days later to further confirm.

Re: Michigan July 2017 Bar exam
I checked all of the materials I kept from the exam and the packet my ticket came in and nothing had my seat number on it. I'm pretty sure I only had it written down in a note on my old phone - as one does with very important identifying materials, you know. But I've been reciting the same number to myself for months, and it's on the pass list. I'm just paranoid that somehow I'm wrong. I guess I'll know for sure in two days or so!ndbigdave wrote:Check your materials for your seat number, otherwise you will receive hard copy results in a day or two (depending on where you live).ohchiyo wrote:Well, I should be right about my number, if that's true, and I'm thinking maybe I passed(!!????)
