July 2017 was my third crack at this exam. In my jurisdiction, a 266 is a passing score.

In July 2016, I scored a 261. In February 2017, I scored a 263. Definitely felt that the July 2017 MEEs and MPTs were the easiest of the three. However, the July 2017 MBE was rough. Hoping that the third time's a charm for me and that all of you pass as well.

266 needed to pass, and I took july 2016- 225, feb 2017- 242, July 2017-? Has anyone ever scored in this pattern and actually passed? after how many bar exam tries?

You had a huge jump from July 2016 to Feb. 2017... hopefully you'll see the same pattern for this exam!

I hope so too. I must admit I studied a little different than the previous times, but Ill post my result after the results are released. I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience

Same here. I sat for July 2016 and Feb. 2017 using Barbri and completely changed my studying this time around. I used Themis, hired a private tutor and went back to my law school study habits, aka writing every damn rule imaginable and definitely noticed an increase in my practice scores. Here's to hoping it's enough.

I actually took the first two exams while working fulltime, but this time I took 6 weeks off before the exam, closed my room door and would only open it to let everyone know I was alive. Hopefully all that isolation was what I needed. I just couldnt bring myself to read all of the outlines and watch every single video on Barbri towards the end of my studying so I did every practice question in the MBE book where I think I memorized the questions before I finished reading them, and knew the answers in my head. I still struggled with the MEE portion but when it came to the exam day I IRACED two of the essays I couldnt finish in time. Hopefully I touched all the issues.

Ugh, well best of luck! I too went into isolation- the less distractions, the better! So many re-takers say re-watching videos is a waste of time and rules on repeat combined with all the possible MBE questions and essay outlining is what you need. I felt really great about the MEE actually, but the MPTS were a time crunch and the MBE always leaves me uncertain. Good luck, I hope you passed!

If I got two sentences in for the second MPT (albeit think I owned the first one), only 2 sentences for one of the essays, sufficiently bombed another essay, and expect a 150 scaled MBE, do I have the slightest chance, or should I stop wondering if I passed and start studying for February?

I'll be honest: Only getting two sentences in for the second MPT is going to hurt you a bit. Each MPT is worth 10% of your overall score (think of it as two essays). It is generally okay to bomb an essay, but bombing two essays plus the second MPT is going to hurt you. Having said that, a 150 scaled MBE is a very good score, which may help you get over the hump. However, you're going to need that first MPT and the remaining 4 essays to be well above average to have a legitimate shot at passing. Good luck.

There’s still hope! Can’t verify the accuracy of this calculator as to the July 2017 exam, but it could still give you an idea of where you stand.

http://www.seperac.com/zcalc-ube-j16.php

FYI- they scale the MEE/MPT to between 20-80 points (mean is 50 points, I believe); you ultimately will be given the benefit of a few points even if your essay was mostly blank. I’ve heard of people getting points for essays they left totally blank post-scaling. Also, the creator of that score calculator wrote in one of his posts that someone who wrote one sentence for an essay received a scaled score of 21 points.

this might sound weird but i failed but i feel alright. i did better than i thought and i feel like if i fix some bad studying habits i can actually do better though i got 244 so i dont know i am completely off or not, I thought of it as 5% increase it becomes more attainable but honestly i never really know. anyways for people who passed any tips or nuggets of wisdom is appreciated, for people who failed, i know it sucks (i really do) but u r alive, hopefully healthy and u either can get better or maybe this isnt ur destination...at least that what i am saying to myself.

Hi all:

First off, we all lurked way tooooo much and worried way tooo much for something we could no longer change. Secondly, I passed with a 298 without writing more than a sentence on the second MPT, only writing a sentence for the crim pro evidence essay, not knowing what a codicil was for the trusts essay, and not knowing the civ pro question was also a conflicts question.

I did not want to show up for day 2. I believed in miracles, and my ability in the MBE. Never give up. Anything is possible!

To those that didn't get good news this time. Keep going and keep believing.
