Essay Topics for the UBE July 17?

Post by drive » Mon Jun 19, 2017 2:47 am

Which subjects do you think will be tested for the UBE in July?

I think Secured transaction will be tested. Other than that, any sharp-minded bar takers have any ideas?

Yeah you guys have a good line-up for july if these come, except for secured trans. that's a pain! But no property or K predicted, we had those in feb. Wills isn't too bad, it's less complicated than trusts I think- at least the terms are more common-sense (ie holographic wills, undue influence, etc.) and much more basic and easy to understand once you go over a few past essays- than the convoluted stuff with power of appt. w/ trusts.

Yeah kinda- trusts, fam law+conflicts, prop, and agency were predicted and they all came. Civ pro and Con law were predicted, they did not come, and contracts was a surprise along with corporations. But 3-4 out of 6 is pretty good. You can likely rely on some of these showing up, especially wills because it's a rarer topic and we just had trusts, also wouldn't study fam law too much either we just had it and it's not tested that often... good luck!

Probably unlikely, I'd say partnerships/agency is more likely, but also worth noting J16 was an LLC question, so not a true corps Q, so I'd still review it just in case, there could always be a curveball where it's tested 3 years in a row, but I highly doubt you'll see a Q that involves duty of care/duty of loyalty issues because we just had that in Feb.

Was the last property essay more on the easy or difficult side? If difficult I think it is less likely to be repeated. If they threw a softball more likely to be repeated.

As someone who took Feb '17- property and contracts were both very easy topics. Contracts was a very short essat and to the point (merchant/firm offer issue), and property was a landlord/tenant list the arguments for each side- no convoluted mortgage/easement/equitable servitude question. That being said, they didn't test torts, civ pro, con law, or the evidence/crim categories so maybe one/two of those will come up instead, but who knows.

So is everyone going through all tested subjects and coming back and spending extra time on these topics? I'm just eondetijng how to best use my time on reviewing and practicing essays.

This was simply just a guess of the tested topics. It should in no way impact your study plan.

Family law hasn't repeated since Fall and July 2011 (ending in July, it had been tested on 9 consecutive exams). Trusts hasn't been back to back since July 2012 and February 2013 (was on a streak of back to back, skip one, back to back, skip one, etc.). I for one am all but banking on family law not being tested, and and semi-banking on wills be tested instead of trusts. Fingers crossed.
