This thread.
^ true haha
also, my understanding is that a list of passers will be posted here
http://barexam.virginia.gov/bar/barresults.html on the same day they mail us letters. (If you fail, they'll tell you your score in your letter so you know where to focus for next time; if you pass they won't tell you your score)

So I was looking at last year's thread and it appears that results came out one day earlier than the date stated on the VBBE website. Any chance the same thing will happen this year? Or possibly earlier?

I've looked into that too... Looks like it came out 2 days early in 2007 and 2008; 1 day early in 2009, 2012, 2014, and 2016; and on the anticipated date in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2015. So there's a small chance it could be posted today and a decent chance it could be posted tomorrow.

The results for February 2017 came out Friday around 11:00 am.

yeah, me too. honestly, last time i cried so much i had a nose bleed for hours. i just cant anymore. i studied my ass off this time around, and suffered a miscarriage 3 days before the bar, and I still came in, bleeding and all, dressed in a suit to take this exam. sorry, tmi. i did my best, i prepared the best i could, but honestly, with the obscure questions that they asked, it was nothing like what the programs and the tutors prepared us for. leaves me so f-in angry i could just cry.

I'm so sorry. That had to be rough! I am hoping the graders had mercy on us and gave points on even remotely close answers. William & Mary has answers up for the essays. I read the first one, then said nope, nope, nope on the next 8 because I couldn't even remember what I answered.

yeah i did that too, but had to remind myself that those are professors writing answers, and not exactly what the bar examiners want to hear. the bar has nothing to do with the practice of law.

On the July 2016 TLS thread, the first post saying results were in was posted shortly after 4 pm on Thursday (so the day before they were expected). In July 2015 someone posted in the TLS thread just after noon that they were posted on Friday.
EDIT to update: there isn't a designated Virginia thread for July exams before 2015... but I found in a general bar exam thread for July 2014 that VA was posted around 4:00 on the Thursday. Granted, three years is a very small sample size from which to make an accurate prediction... but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that if it's posted today it'll be in the late afternoon. If it's posted tomorrow, it'll be right before lunch time.

So it looks like if your name is on pass list one you are licensed to practice law as of October 27. Does this mean attending the swearing-in ceremony in December is not required?
Am I missing something?

You are licensed to practice law as of October 27th, but you are not yet admitted to practice before any court. To appear before a court, you must be sworn in. You can be admitted court-by-court before you appear in each one, or you can be admitted by the Virginia Supreme Court, which takes care of all the others. (Also, if you want to practice in federal court or waive in to DC / other states, you'll need to be admitted to the Virginia Supreme Court).

I thought you had to receive your bar number before you are licensed to practice.
