I got a bit of a chuckle out of the MA specific law school breakdown with the disclaimer " the statistical data does not represent an evaluation of the law schools".

That is low. MA used to be a very easy state. It looks like UBE states have higher passage than those MBE states.

Passed Feb. 2017. MBE 150, Essays 165.

I was very nervous about the results leading up to April 19, even though my scores ended up being well above the 270 threshold.

My preparation: I had passed another state bar 8 years ago but that meant I was pretty rusty and had to put in a decent amount of hours.

I studied alone, without a bar prep course. I was considering Adaptibar for MBE, but instead got a book called The MultiState Goat, which has all the same questions except the Civil Pro questions, which are not actual questions from last exams. And it's only $125 instead of $400. For Civ Pro, I purchased a downloaded copy of one of the Civ Pro prep books (forget which title). When I took the MBE practice, I did it at least 50 questions at a time, and sometimes 100 at a time. Then I would grade it. I wouldn't look at the answers before done with the 100.

For Essays, I spent about half my prep time at least on them. I made flash cards. I used past essays. I used other people's outlines and notes that I could find. If something was out of date or I suspected it was (like Probate law and spousal share, eg., I followed up with more online research. I even read complete cases. One of them in particular, dealing with post nuptial agreements, I remembered in detail, including case name and holding and reasoning, and was able to cite the case on the exam and explain in detail. I think that helps. I wasn't afraid to go off the standard bar prep paths and do my own investigation on MA law, and I think that helped a lot.

I list all this here just to give people an idea of my preparation in case they are looking to take the bar in July or beyond.

Anyone that passed the Feb. 2017 MA bar: did you receive any email yet about the invitation to the swearing in ceremony?
