This time around I feel pretty good about all three essays, but once again I'm not sure about the Florida MC. I'm hoping for 50+ points per essay and at least 45 on MC. Best of luck to all!
So you averaged around 43% per essay, and about 52% on the MC. Those are decent essay scores, so I would have thought the scaled score would've come out higher. Even so, if you hit the national average for this cycle on the MBE (140.5) you would pass overall with a 132 on Part A.
There's a decent chance that I'll end up failing part A by a similar margin (5 points or so) and passing part B with enough to pass overall. I don't have a good guideline for how I might've done on Florida, and I did not feel good about the FLMC. I took Kaplan and felt like Kaplan didn't prepare us for the FLMC at all. They had some guy from Virginia come in and teach Florida Civ Pro when it was clear he had no expertise or training in Florida law. I got a 60/100 which was above the average for Kaplan when I took the Kaplan Part A simulated exam.
As far as essays, I felt like Kaplan's grading won't be reflective of the actual exam... the "average" score for Florida essays in Kaplan was like a 41, which is not passing. It's not possible that the "Average" essay is failing. I also remember vividly one property essay when I wrote a shit ton under timed conditions, and got full credit for every single point of law I discussed, but Kaplan's grader gave me a 37 because she said I missed a single issue. That's not how essay grading is supposed to work, missing a single issue is not supposed to result in a failure when the rest of the essay was excellent. So I feel like I have no guideline for what a passing bar essay is supposed to look like, since Kaplan's grading was so bizarre.
I always felt good about the MBE though. It's the one predictable part of the exam, and therefore the part I spent the most time on. A 150 MBE was not out of reach for me, and that's pretty much auto pass in Florida. So hopefully I got that 150 and will pass overall tomorrow.
