Top Law Schools

I believe NYS only requires that a student take one year of bar prep before they can sit for the bar. Is that correct? What are the easiest states to register for the bar in? I do not have the ability to finance 3 years of law school.

Do you have a guaranteed job or something? Going solo? I doubt you would be able to land a worthwhile job. Graduates from good law schools can't find work right now. Why would you do this? Just curious.

Yeah, but it's an interesting alternative.

You might look at the New York rules. If you have just one year of law school, I think you have to work in a law office for a few years as well. I'm not at all sure about that, though, so check.

My vote for "best" state to read the law would be Washington. The bar runs a four year clerk program with a prescribed syllabus and regular examinations. The few who finish tend to pass the bar on their first attempt.

Are there practice bar exams like their were practice lsat's. It would be good to be able to take an official bar exam from previous years

Also, as long as bar prep isn't that expensive I would be interested in passing the bar as a personal achievement and possibly go solo.

That is likely not what they meant. However, I am from a small city so the emphasis was not on law schools. These are small law firms as well. However, this would mostly be a low risk venture as long as I can keep my spending below $1,000 and use strictly prep books and previous bar exams (assuming I can find them) The reward of passing alone would outweigh the cost of the prep material.

Read the rules. No one can just go to law school for a year and take the bar.
You also have to work fulltime in a law office for 3 or 4 years. There are other requirements as well.

I thought this was being phased out but maybe not.

The primary objective is not to find employment or to even register with the bar officially. I am not able to go to law school for personal reasons, but I would like to study for the exam regardless because I like to study law and because I would get a sense of accomplishment from passing a past bar exam even if it is not officially graded. This could cost me just a few hundred dollars and provide for some good reading at least.

I went to Law School for one semester and placed in the top 25% of my class, but I am not willing to pay for more school. I know from law school that you can usually compare your answers to the sample answers and have a strong idea of how well you have done. I'm sure everyone has done this. I am already reading a crim law textbook as recreational reading.

Here is another bundle for $310, the other contains multistate books. Aren't these unneeded? What is your opinion on this bundle?

My opinion is that you're an idiot. You should've just stayed in school and transferred if you were unhappy with your school.

I agree that this plan is completely stupid. But I think if by some mystical way you could pass the bar and THEN go to law school you would probably have an interesting experience with employment.
