Re: Cornell 1L taking questions
he just needed reassurance from more than one source, but failed to consider the fact that the same people were likely to contribute to both sources, so not necessarily retarded, just, . . . shortsighted?

what? you expressed disbelief that there could be pretty girls at her school--thereby expressing a presumption of her not-prettiness.

I don't give a shit about me, per se, but you just said that you find it hard to believe that there are any attractive women in ALL OF ITHACA. You don't think that might offend some people who attend the school and live IN ITHACA?dudesweet wrote:i guess you might take that as offensive if you have no self confidence?
Did you think posting this in the CORNELL thread might come across as a bit brazen and self-obsessed?

Obviously, I don't know much about law school yet, and can't tell you how to succeed, but I'll tell you what I can.
Are there many people from the Mid-west there, or mainly people from the North east?

Re: Cornell 1L taking questions
There are a few midwesterners, especially from Chicago, but ot seems like the heaviest concentrations come from NY and CA, with a good number from MA, DC, TX and GA.Darth Topher wrote:IHeartIthaca wrote:Seems like these kinds of threads are popular. Fire away

Re: Cornell 1L taking questions
FWIW, there are tons of beautiful intelligent women here. Not that that should be your primary concern in choosing a law school.
And I'll second sbrown--lots of NY and CA kids...quite a few from jersey as well, it seems.
Overall, there is a good geographic mix.

More from the northeast than the midwest. Though I'm from the midwest, ... as are both of my roommates.Darth Topher wrote:IHeartIthaca wrote:Seems like these kinds of threads are popular. Fire away

I've met people from all over the place here. I'm surprised that there's another Coloradoan in our class (and even more surprised that he took a class from one of my bffs). I've only met one Oregonian, thought, but several Puerto Ricans, a lot of Texans, a dude from FL... Really, I think it's a pretty diverse class.

Re: Cornell 1L taking questions
when people say they are from a state.. is this referring to their current address when applying?
i'm asking cuz people told me that, coming from tx, i would add geographic diversity..which after reading some posts here, may not be the case. but i did attend high school from a small rural midwestern state and went to its state u. i just happen to be in tx because of work at the moment.

I dont think being from TExas will add to geographic diversity. There are a good number of Texans. Obviously, not as many as northeastern states, but I dont think we are underrepresented.

Maybe if this "small rural midwestern state" is really underrepresented? I'm not sure. Good question.hayman wrote:when people say they are from a state.. is this referring to their current address when applying?

Edit: my instinct tells me it won't help.

Re: Cornell 1L taking questions
Where and how do people socialize? Is it easy to make friends? How is the party scene?
What is the age/racial/international distribution? Are most people going for big law or no? How political is it?
If you are not into sports, are you doomed to failure at everything?
And lastly, does freaking all of TLS go to Cornell? And if so, is a good thing? o.O

Frequently you see people you know between class and decide to eat lunch. Or if you live in the law dorm (I do), you walk into the kitchen or lounge and there will be people to chill with you. It is pretty easy to make friends, and everyone I've met has been very nice--even the really awkward kids.Where and how do people socialize? Is it easy to make friends?
a lot of 22 year olds. the older, the rarer, though we have a 20 year old and a 51 year old with pretty much every intermediate age group represented. I wouldn't say it's terribly political, though there are some pretty political student organizations that you can join if interested. What is the age/racial/international distribution? I am not that into sports, and I don't think of myself as a failure at anything (other than arm wrestling)If you are not into sports, are you doomed to failure at everything?
i can name at least 10 regular/semi-regular posters who do. And 5 of us are all in the same section. And lastly, does freaking all of TLS go to Cornell? And if so, is a good thing?
