Internship with IBM as a Patent Professional?

Post by lawyerliz » Wed Jan 30, 2019 12:25 pm

Hi!
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this internship at IBM. Would it stand out on a resume for Law Schools? Although I'm not sure how invested in going to Law School I am, so would this give a good exposure to what work would be like as a patent lawyer?
Thanks!

I know it's counterintuitive, because it's not how college admissions work, but law schools don't really care about softs. They care pretty much exclusively about your LSAC GPA and your LSAT score. Having good WE might help around the edges, but your outcome will largely turn on your GPA and LSAT alone.

All that said, I think this internship sounds like a great opportunity to gain exposure to legal practice. It'll be especially valuable if you decide to go into patent law down the road - your internship will signal your interest to employers. I think you should go for it!
