Negative impact of second MA degree?
Hello TLS,
I've been admitted to SLS and am on deferral to finish a MA degree. I've recently been admitted to a second 1-year MA, which is fully funded. Given that it's fully funded and I'm interested in the subject, I figure, why not? SLS has told me I can defer for a second year to finish it.
My concern, though, it that after the second MA I will be entering law school at 27 with two degrees in humanities subjects. Will law firms think that I have too frivolous of a resume to hire me as a litigator? Or would I be too old?
Thank you,
Mercat

Re: Negative impact of second MA degree?
I had two master's degrees in the humanities going into OCI. Employers didn't care.
My problem was overreacting, reacting defensively, to the question, "Why law?" When your time comes, remember to answer questions directly and succinctly. "Why law" doesn't require you to tell your life's story or to weave a coherent narrative.

I wouldn’t worry about it.

Definatleey not too old to start school at 27, and like others said no one cares that much about two MA degrees. Do the second one if you like and then focus on SLS

Keep in mind that your interviewers won't know that you deferred a year.

Thank you for the responses! So I'm getting that it might be *slightly* questionable in the eyes of firm recruiters, but that it's not really worth stressing over?

I don't think it's even questionable for recruiters--probably makes you more interesting.
