Penn Law Housing
I'd like to have a place people could come to in order to focus on housing around Penn.
I've been shopping on apartments.com. Within 20 minutes' walk from Penn, studios seem to start at $1,200, when you rise above those with copious one-star reviews about roach and mice infestations.

Options for cat-friendly studios are a deal breaker for me. I'll be following this thread.pricon wrote:I'd like to have a place people could come to in order to focus on housing around Penn.

Re: Penn Law Housing
University City Housing is a good company, I use them and know a lot of other people who also had positive experiences. I'm a 15 minute walk from campus and pay $1200 for a 1BR. I know several people who have pets and allegedly haven't been charged pet rent (just going off what they told me but can't 100% confirm it). My biggest complaint is that there's no laundry in my place, but I guess I just wasn't used to city life before moving to philly and have been told this is normal. Happy to respond to any PMs about housing

Left Bank
Rates on available apartments (the availability is three months out):
https://www.on-site.com/web/online_app/ ... &required=
Notes:
- over half of residents are graduate students
- over half of residents are Penn students
- if you want to move in at the start of summer, then they recommend looking at the link above at about March
- they have a priority waitlist
- the studios are about 750 sq. ft. and at about $1,700/mo.
- free Wi-Fi, but because the building is made of concrete, interference and a need for a high-speed connection might warrant someone buying their own router
- parking: $240/mo. per space
- all staff is full-time, including concierge, maintenance, and cleaning
- 24/7 gym renovated in 2016
- 15-seat movie theater
- lockers
- game room
- you pay electric and cable
- contact: nbaud@dranoffproperties.com

- graduate students: 1st month's rent, penultimate month's rent, and last month's rent due at signing; the security deposit equals a month's rent; and your school's acceptance letter must be shown
- studio: about $1,250/mo.
- includes water, gas, heat, air, and a gym
- due to the 90-day notice to vacate, expect early June availability to appear on the link above by the end of February through early March

Re: Penn Law Housing
I've been making progress learning about housing options, and I stumbled upon a recorded housing session from Penn that should be added here.
Instructions
1. Download and install Adobe Connect, if you have not already done so: Windows—http://www.adobe.com/go/Connectsetup / Mac—http://www.adobe.com/go/ConnectSetupMac.
2. When the app runs, you should give it this URL: https://upennsas.adobeconnect.com/_a101 ... ode=normal.
I think it's a long video, so if you skip to minute 28 to get to the more useful stuff, feel free.

Re: Penn Law Housing
Here is a Numbers spreadsheet my potential roomie and I used to sift through 1-BR opportunities around Penn. We tailored the spreadsheet to our personal wants, which resulted in a pretty straight-forward points system. Feel free to use this as a template or for ideas.
