How much do you plan on paying per month? (Rent)
NYC biglaw. Is 2500/month too much?

Studio or 1bd? $2500 is pretty standard (some say "cheap") for no roommates

Not c/o 2017, so hope it's ok to post here ...
I assume you're talking about rent? There are a bunch of sample budgets out there (e.g. http://www.biglawinvestor.com/budget-ca ... associate/) and, as far as I can remember, $2500 is a very doable number. Though, as others may point out, you certainly don't need to spend that much.

Thanks for the replies! I've never lived in a big city so I wasn't sure. Basically everything decent that I've found in my ideal neighborhoods are around 2500. Just wanted to make sure that that is a standard amount.magnum_law wrote:Studio or 1bd? $2500 is pretty standard (some say "cheap") for no roommates
And yes, studio/1bd.

If alone, 2k to 2.5k for one-bedroom, nothing over 2.5k. If with roommate then significantly lower.

I am paying $3000 for a 1BR but live with an SO so I guess it's like $1500 per person. Like others have said $2500 for a studio is very doable, especially if you're willing to put up with a short subway commute (LIC to Midtown, or Brooklyn to Downtown).
